Ok I love me some Kristin Chenoweth, but I do think shes a bit too old (then again Glinda starts out as a university student in Wicked). Even if she wasnt too old I dont know that she'd necesarily do it, or would even have time to.
She was offered the role, but turned it down.
I can't see her realistically playing the role. I don't even know why they would offer it to her. I think it worked in Wicked only because the character ages, Idina was also over 30, and the story itself is a fantasy. We don't know how people age in Oz, so they can tell us.
As I recall from her appearance with the Boston Pops, Kristin's years of ballet training were not wasted.

She looks nothing like the ages of Ziemba and Neuwirth.
When they approached Chenoweth about playing Elle Woods the idea was that all the roles would be cast older so it would become more of a satire than the way it is now with Bundy.
The show was of course conceived with the idea of her starring in it but I believe Laura Bland Bundy has been part of all the workshops since Chenoweth rejected the project.
i could definitely see this
Ziemba and Neuwirth always had that 'hard look' to their faces. They were never graceful beauties, even in their youth.
I agree that she is too old. I also, for some reason, just could not see in her in this role at all.
Oh, I could so see her.
She'd be perfect. She has exactly what reviewers have been saying LBB lack... that satirical, spunkiness of Witherspoon. She has star power like no other star on the stage today. She would have been perfect.
She is to old. She could have done it around the time she won her Tony. It was originally offered to her though.
See, I totally think LBB has all that. I loved her the first time, and thought she brought a loveable goofball-ness to the part.
Laura Bell has not always been involved with it. Kerry did the inital workshop recordings.
:) I know, and I love her on the few demo tracks I have of her.
But she's also a little old at this point (despite reading much younger onstage)

Chenoweth is too old - and i don't know if her voice is right either - it's evolved into a part for a power belter, something cheno is not.
Could she? Yeah. Would she want to? I hope not. She's a little too old and she deserves better material.
Too Old
Can't dance.
...are we talking about the same Kristin Chenoweth? 9 years of professional ballet training which she exhibitied in the funny girl concert, where most of her number was delivered en pointe. She was also one of the first choices for Thoroughly Modern Millie, which as we all know, is a tap show. She also made one of her first Broadway apperiences in Steel Pier which is a heavy dance show. So yeah... I guess she can't dance.
Too Old?
Can't dance?
If this show somehow survives the winter, who knows who will be stunt casted. I can't imagine any of those things mattering.
Ashley Simpson? Jessica?
Cheno is approaching a certain aging out of that stupid character thing she does. Will she ever be a Mame or a Mrs. Lovette? That's the question.

WOW OH WOW OH WOW. Everyone needs to check out this youtube clip of Kristin making a mockery of Legally Blonde at the Drama Desk Awards.
It is freaking HILARIOUS. I've watched about 12x now and bust a gut every time. And, fyi, i think she could pull it off regardless of age! She was a pretty old Glinda too and that didn't matter! (Glinda is supposed to be a college student after all... entering her freshman year thus even younger than Elle Woods!)
Anyway, CHECK THIS OUT.

Too old, I think. I'd love to see Megan Hilty give it a shot, though.

I never seasi Cheno looked AS OLD as Murphy, Ziemba, Bebe, etc. I said she didn't look TEN TO TWELVE years younger.
Kerry Butler workshopped the role. Laura Bell Bundy came in after she heard Jerry Mitchell was the director, and sent him a note expressing interest.
