Creepy? They raised $10,000 for BC/EFA!! Plus an additional $15,000-20,000 through photos with the cast & signed posters. In one night! I don't know if the auction will be a daily thing or if it was just because it was the first night of collections.

Yes. It's still creepy.

Now if it were for Gavin Creel's dance belt then it would be different.

How is this creepier than the auctioning off of Daniel Radcliffe's jeans...?

Because these are their UNDERSHIRTS. Not the button down shirts they wore over them. It's like more of an equivalent to selling Radcliffe's underwear than his pants. (I know there's a big difference between underwear and undershirts but you get where I'm going with this...)

Don't get me wrong, I'm obviously happy they raised so much money. I'd just love to meet whoever bought them and ask them what the hell they plan on doing with two $5,000 undershirts.

What difference does it make? Why does the fact that it could be vaguely sexual strike you as so distasteful?

Did they take them off on the stage?

That's a lot of dough for one night,

Sexual attraction is not creepy or disgusting or gross or cooties or mushy stuff. Adults have sexual desires.

There are tons of reports like this on Twitter:

>>pattiepadfoot: Saw "A Steady Rain" with @twnty7 and, as a special surprise, they undid their shirts and auctioned each other off. INCOMPREHENSIBLE HOTNESS<<<

Someone who went to the matinee has said that the photo ops now go for $ 2000 ( the demand must be very high) and the undershirts went for $ 5500 each.

Also, it seems that they will no longer be signing autographs after the show at the stagedoor during the duration of the fundraising ( they are auctioning signed playbills, too...plus the photo sessions take a good half-hour or so).

Hugh does the emceeing duties - hey, you have an Oscars host taking care of the auction there re: Craig & Jackman auction off their undershirts for $10,000 for BCEFA

I can't imagine that they wouldn't sign any Playbills at the stagedoor anymore. What about all those people who can't afford spending $100 on a signed Playbill. I know, it's for charity, but still, it seems odd.

^^Well, that's what Hugh said during his BC/EFA speech today, though I don't know if they actually did or did not sign after the show as I left before they exited.
And yes, they sold both undershirts today for $5,500 each, for a total of $11,000.

Paying for a ticket does not mean you are automatically entitled to a signature at the Stage Door, by holding off on that they are making the collection even higher. So just say hi, and know the money they are raising is helping SICK people.
I know we all know that.
My hat is off to these two straight (ahem) men taking the time to help BCEFA.
I predict they will break any collection records so far.
I heard Patti was there with a camera.

The BCEFA competition ends on Sunday, Dec 6, which is also the date of the final performance of A Steady Rain, so if they stick to that plan, they won't be doing any more stage door signing.

For the autographed Playbills and posters, are they signing them for you right there, or are you buying pre-signed Playbills/posters?

The Playbills are posters are pre-signed, but if you take a photo with them they will sign the photos for you.

Unfortunately for a show like ASR, someone who is not seeing the show cannot buy any of the auctioned stuff ( Playbills and posters) because they sell their merchandise inside the performing hall itself - no space in the small lobby ( unlike other theatres where the merchandise stand is in the lobby).

Any news on how they have dealt with the demand from people who have already seen or will not be able to see the show?

That's not true. If someone wanted to buy an autographed Playbill or poster, all they have to do is go to the theatre when the show lets out, walk inside, and buy one. The volunteers in the lobby sell the Playbills as well so you could just buy one from them. In fact just today we had a gentleman come by as the show was ending and ask if he could come inside to buy the merchandise and he was allowed to do so. It's no different than most other shows that sell signed posters. Sometimes the posters will be sold in the lobby (JERSEY BOYS, MAMMA MIA, MARY POPPINS) but usually they're at the bar inside the theatre (PHANTOM, WICKED, THE LION KING, St James Theatre, Golden Theatre, Hirschfeld Theatre, Palace Theatre.)

And today Hugh Jackman said that they while would still come out to say hi to the people waiting at the stage door, they will not be signing anything or taking photos while the collections are going on. Which is only fair, as people are paying $2000 for a photo, and it also increases the demand which will end up bringing in more money for charity.

Thanks -- I was basing my observation for when I had seen the show and the regular show merchandise were being sold inside the performing hall.

It's good that the auctioned items can be bought regardless of whether one is part of the day's audience or not.
