Count me among the few who saw (and really enjoyed) both Shogun: The Musical and Cyrano: The Musical.

Apparently, if you put "The Musical" in the title, I'll enjoy it. :)

Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around...

I vaguely remember answering this question before but here goes again,

Fascinating Rhythm, if only for the brilliance of the songs and the performers singing them.
Aida, again, mostly for the original cast and their performances. Disliked every replacement since.

I though the critics were too kind to Footloose, if anything.

Dance of the Vampires-messy but fun
Sussical-Don't understand why reviews hated this one so.

Sweet Smell of Success (amazing score and actors - is it possible the nonsense choreography ruined the entire production)

I don't remember Titanic, Big, or Parade being critically roasted, but I loved all three of them as well as Seussical (the Broadway production, I didn't like the national tour with Cathy Rigby) and Jane Eyre.

Was Aida roasted as well? I thought it got decent reviews, though I cannot stand the show myself.

I'm a HUGE Carrie fan, though I know why it suffered such a horrible fate.

Mr Roxy - You LIKED Thou Shalt Not? You are the only person I know who saw it that actually liked it. Well, you and the literally screaming flambouyant fan sitting in front of me. During intermission, I overheard him saying to some random person, "The show is completely character-driven. I mean, without them, the show would be nothing." A brilliant revelation. After the show, he excitedly asked his female friend (who was obviously head-over-heels for the unattainable fellow) what she thought of the show to which she replied, "Oh my GOD! That was the best show........EVER!!!"

yeah Parade was trashed by critics until Tony-time came around and people realized there was NOTHING else good/new to vote for...and they looked back and went "hmmm, i guess that was an original and pretty fierce idea - i suppose it should have some nominations" - people are dumb :)

But I won't live alone in a house of regret.

The Scarlet Pimpernel (the first two incarnations anyway...I didnt see the third)

Taboo
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (I thought it was really cute, and I thought the music was catchy)

...and while I'd never say I enjoyed Thou Shalt Not, I did like the song "Tug Boat" and thought Norbert Leo Butz's performance was excellent and the only reason worth sitting through it.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Oh, I forgot a major one. I know I'll go to hell for this one: Urban Cowboy. It knew what it wanted to do, what it wanted to be, and did it damn well. Also, any show with Jen Collela (sp) can't be all bad. She was great. As was the ensemble.

Just my opinion, I may be wrong.

Parade wasn't critically roasted, but the reviews for the show weren't nearly as overwhelmingly positive as they were for the cd. (That is a brilliant recording!)
So I guess add Parade to my list too.

"Follies" reviews were mixed to positive and it went on to win 7 Tony Awards, so I'm not sure it really qualifies as "critically roasted." Great show.

and of course, absolutly, Scarlet Pimpernel...all 3 versions - go SP go

i was cleaning out some paperwork from my desk the other day and i have this whole folder of funny SP stuff that i had printed out...can't believe that was 6/7 years ago!! what a good time that was, looking through all that old stuff made me realize how much i missed SP and just the camraderie that surrounded the whole thing. got me to thinking - any Leaguers around on the board?
