It's about timing...they are sure to get tons of nominations and some key wins..that usually translates into some box office juice.
wow, i couldn't be more excited!
it must be really exciting for all of them - and especially for sutton, to be back in the theatre where so much of her career took off! i can't wait to see it!

If this is true, there will be a plethora of female talent vying for the Tonys this year.
Felicia Fields, Sutton Foster, LaChanze, Patti LuPone, Maria Friedman, Laura Benati, Carolee Carmello, Elisabeth Withers-Mendes........
YAAAY! I wanna get tickets soon! Who's betting money that Drowsy will break the curse of the Marquis?

Feel free to remove Maria Friedman from Tony contention...she may get a nomination for her efforts, but will not be in the running for the award...and Foster will be in a featured category.

popcultueboy: those Monday dates do make a bit of sence, a lot of B'way people are free that night, but I hope the hype extends beyond the Broadway community.
I know Sutton will be a featured, and while I'm a big fan of hers, I'm very much interested in this show, and Sutton is a very big, big plus to the cast.
The Marquis is not my favorite place in the world, but I'll ride the escalator to the end of the world to see her perform.
ShuQ two back to back flops does not make a cursed theatre. Look back in its history and you will find many successful shows. 2 in a row maybe a trend but not a cursed theatre.
If Sutt wins the Featured Actress Tony for this show, I am officially going to start petitioning this space to be named "The Sutton Foster Theatre".
Not cursed, but certainly accursed.
VonTussle, your sig just reminded me that she got her "nice juicy supporting role."
I don't know if she gets to sing a great song, die, and then knit, though.

Welcome back, Sutton! This is so exciting!
I agrtee 2bars - the Marquis is an awful space for ANY thing. But I'm very anxious to see this show.
I am curious as to why the Marquis is bad for any show. I can understand the size, but the seating, sound, and setting is beautiful.
I really really wanted Maria to win the Tony because I've seen all of the others and she was the best, IMO. I really hope the closing doesn't lower her chances even more.
Another question, has an actor won for a show that closed a time before the Tony's? Please provide some examples.
I'm so excited that this show found a home. I was getting nervous if it was going to make it.
For everyone in NYC, get tickets ASAP!! It is a wonderful show with a marvelous cast. I saw it twice in LA.
Now, I'm so mad though because I will be in NY March 25-31. I'm just missing it. Noooo!
And finally, I have to say my favorite person in this show is Beth Leavel. So, Nothatsmrt - run up the street and tell her she's fabulous!!!
"As we stumble along..."
Oh god, when I read the announcement, I literally jumped up (nocking my chair down in the process), started bouncing around the computer lab (the the confusion of my classmates) yelling ,"YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!)" and then proceeded to run outside and yell at the top of my lungs in excitement. As you can tell, i am very happy. This is one of my all time favorite shows.
Ok....NY...enjoy it!!! I am going there in May. Hmmm...do I go see this a third time? I promise you will walk out of the theater with a smile on your face! Such an endearing musical...especially to musical freaks like me! Even my husband liked it, and he is a very tough sell.
Congratulations to the entire cast!!!

And by 100% stroke of luck, and 100% fluke, the 2005-2006 Broadway season found its Best Musical.
....Hopefully....
....Maybe this year the voters will vote their hearts again, not their wallets....
Seriously... I will say what I've said all along. If you live in NYC or are planning to go there soon... GET A TICKET. Don't read anything too descriptive about the show in advance. Be prepared to watch something new, hilarious, touching, and extremely imaginative.
This show is a valentine made for all of you who love musical theatre. Enjoy!

This is one of the aspects that makes this show so perfect. It's not a "tourist" attraction. It's not based on a stupid movie. It's not a kid's show. It's not designed to sell tickets by title alone. It is not a "spectacle." The beauty of it rests on the book, music, lyrics, deeply lovable characters and performances. This is a show for musical theatre queens, kings and lovers.
And I agree to everyone. Please try to avoid reading any reviews or previews or opinions. Just go see it. It's the kind of show we are always begging for but never get.
Margo, I cannot WAIT to hear what YOU have to say. I suggest that you are going to eat this up and beg for more.
