Apparently, DTC has been granted permission to write a new book to the Strouse-Adams "It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's SUPERMAN!" musical...I'm curious what they'll do. Having never seen (or read) the original, I have no clue what's wrong with the book.
The original book is not quite as funny as I had hoped it would be. I think the score works and the orchestrations are absolutely brilliant, but since the tone of the show is a bit arch without real emotions at stake, you want it to be really hilarious and it doesn't quite hit the heights in that department. The villains, The Flying Lings, would also raise a few eyebrows. (I saw one rewrite already that changed them to terrorists from a fictitious Middle Eastern country!)
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
the hope is to get Lex Luthor to be able to make an appearance in the show and update from it's staid 60s vibe - DTC is working closely with DC COmics to secure the rights to the character
