re: Daniel Radcliffe to head cast of 'Trying' tuner

I can't think of a better vehicle for someone like Radcliffe to make his musical debut. And if this ever makes it to Broadway, it will be 15 years since the Broderick revival opened.

My slight modification would be: "How to Succeed on Broadway Without Showing Your Business."

Following the lead of the Nobel committee, Daniel Radcliffe has won the Tony Award for lead actor in a musical.

Interesting. Radcliffe also has other offers on the table, including a new piece called Monster Show and an offer from Jim Steinman to take on Alfred in an English version of Tanz der Vampire. (P genre will be particularly curious; hit me up on AIM, bud.)

I'd like to see him in a revival of "Where's Charley?" It would revolutionize Broadway - a show about a British college student with a leading man who's actually the right age!

Phyllis, any word if D Rad is doing the tour?

re: Daniel Radcliffe to head cast of 'Trying' tuner

I love this show and have been wishing for a revival for quite some time, but I can't really get excited about Radcliffe in the lead role. I haven't seen him do much (didn't see EQUUS and the last time I saw a Potter movie was about 7 years ago), I'll admit, but I think there is some great talent on Broadway today that could really do justice with the role. Still, I'd love to see him prove me wrong, if this production comes to be.

Givesmevoice, in an unprecedented move, Mr Radcliffe is going to perform the show on Broadway and tour with it at the same time! The tour opens tonight. I cannot wait!

Will it still be running when I come to New York in 2011?

What is the running time?

Are there gunshots?

Do you think there will be a replacement cast?

What is Daniel's performance schedule? If he doesn't perform the night after winning the Tony, his career is OVER.

When he was in NYC for EQUUS he mentioned his love of musicals, and that when he was age appropriate, he'd love to do Bobby in COMPANY.

I guess he wants to kick up his heels a little sooner than that!

Maybe they could do my idea of making the show more modern and having a woman climbing the corporate ladder.

I find some Harry Potter geeks' comments quite amusing. Read the comments from this article on a Harry Potter fansite http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/2861

"noooooo do film please. i wont be able to watch!!!!!!!"

"Dan is going to star in a musical??? Does this means he going to sing??? Does he know how to sing???? He can definitely has stage presence and can keep an audience attention."

"Plus not everyone who performs in musicals can sing. It's part of the whole charm."

I didn't know that tone-deaf people were cast in Broadway musicals. And since when is not being able to sing charming in a musical?

re: Daniel Radcliffe to head cast of 'Trying' tuner

Actually, it's not so bad an idea. Yes, he isn't known for his singing, but the score of How To Succeed isn't the most daunting thing for an actor to get through. Yes, Robert More could sing, sort of, ditto Matthew Broderick. But neither were ever known as vocal virtuosos. If they're going to do the show at all, I think he could do a very creditable job, assuming his comic skills are up to snuff.

As long as it's nothing like the Des McAnuff revival of Guys and Dolls I think we'll be okay. Although, didn't Des direct the last revival of H2$? Hmmm...

re: Daniel Radcliffe to head cast of 'Trying' tuner

in all seriousness, the only problem I have is that he's a little young. I think he's very talented and seems very interested in exploring different options for his career. I know it's only a reading, but I'm definitely hoping something materializes.

also, lol Potter fans. Glad I'm only sort of in that fandom these days.
