i hadnt heard anything about COMPANY, so i went over to the bw.com page for COMPANY and watched the video clip. Are Sondheim shows all staged the same?
And which one is Esperanza? Is he the guy singing on top of a big piano in the begining? The one with a huge lisp and a mediocre voice?
Emcee, it's sad that people feel a need to attack rather than contribute to a friendly conversation/debate. Since when can't opinions be opinions? The need to "defend" always changes the topics of threads here and the intended topic is ignored.

CurtainPullDowner, you're being obnoxious. Em clearly stated that she might not be the most objective person to debate the merits of each performance. But I still have more confidence in her than some of the other objective folks on this board. She's able to see her flaws and readily admits them. For you to call her out on her own biases when she's already called herself out is absurd.
This thread is way to angsty. Good Lord, the people NOMINATED don't get this wound up about it!

Shut up, Mom, er, Rath! I hate you! You never let me do anything I want!
Go to your room!
And I'd better not hear that COMPANY cd!! You are PUNISHED!

You're just jealous because you're disappointed in your own life! Well, you can't make me become you! I'll NEVER be you!
*runs to room*

And you will never win a Tony with that attitude, Missy.
You think your precious Raul spoke to his Rath that way? Think about it.

I don't feel like playing this game anymore. I miss my "I Just Had a Baby!" thread.
It's gone?? Damn.
I know what will make you feel better - imagine Raul and DHP on Celebrity DeathMatch.

Nothing can assuage my sorrow. Except a vodka float.
I'm off to lunch!
Bye, Joanne!

I'm actually more of a Jennyish Joanne.
Now, I'm really gone.
Hee. I enjoyed reading that little snit.
(Thank you, SG and Capn!)
Having seen both Hyde Pierce and Esparza, I'd pick Esparza hands down. I saw "Company" last Wednesday afternoon and loved it! I am now a diehard Esparza fan and can't wait for his next project.

Hey, I think its a great possibility. Everyone I've talked to that has been to Curtains just absolutely raves about not only the show, but about DHP's performance.
First of all, I just saw Curtains yesterday and was highly disappointed. I thought it was pretty bad. DHP will be nominated, as will Karen Ziemba, and hopefully Jason Danieley. The only one who has a shot of winning though is Ziemba (giving Mary Louise Wilson a run for her money). As much as it pains me to say this, I think Raul will win, even though I didn't like him in Company very much. Although...who knows...Cerveris still, has a shot. And if the year is REALLY crazy, the Tony voters could pull a "let's give the Tony to Martin Short or Patrick Page"! I would laugh so hard.

I saw both Company and Curtains (this past weekend). Although I thought DHP was excellent, I am giving the edge to Raul. His performance was flawless.
i second that: raul wins in my book!!

I'd give the Tony to Martin Short over pretty much every leading man this season.
