What would you like me to say? God this is pathetic. I ask a simple question and your like animals- typical, Broadway board response- silly me!
Pity, as when you guys ask us about the Uk we're are more than happy to help.

Posted: 7/25/10 at 9:18pmHow about calling the city by its actual name: San Francisco? "Frisco" is offensive to any Bay Area native who has spent a decent amount of time in the city.

People from the UK or elsewhere would not know how you would like to call a city if we are not familiar!!!!! I've certainly heard it called 'Frisco' many times in the past and Ive been there many times.
Could you not have explained first before you spat your typical venom?.
What makes you think i would be out to upset anyone from the Bay Area by asking a simple question about a show thats playing in their city.
Now, I simply cant wait to experience the hostility that you've displayed here when I arrive in 'San Francisco' in 2 weeks time!
Thanks!

Hint: don't use a nickname if you know how to spell out the entire city.
We will welcome you with open arms, doobies, and rainbow leis. Just don't say "Frisco" while you're here.

I actually saw this production last year Mama, but I believe most of the cast have changed since then.
Production-wise, it's pretty much the same as any other 'Wicked' out there.
For some reason though, having this particular show playing really added to the atmosphere of the arty area of San Francisco - me and my friend felt a real buzz as we explored this district and watching 'Wicked' just...really added to the experience.

Posted: 7/25/10 at 10:36pmSomebody told me not to call it Frisco in 1978. I'm surprised the news hasn't reached the UK yet.

Okay, now that the name that will not be mentioned is behind us…
Marcie Dodd (Elphaba) and Alli Mauzey (Glinda) both have powerhouse voices. I enjoy both acting-wise as well, but I know some who don’t care for one or the other (or both). This is the case with pretty much all Elphaba & Glindas though.
Cliffton Hall gets the job done as Fiyero. He’s not great, but he’s not bad either.
Tom McGowan is good, but he plays the Wizard very understated. Those who prefer a more “showy” Wizard may not enjoy him. I think Tom’s main problem is after years of TV work, he doesn’t “play to the balcony” very well, but I enjoy his Wizard.
Jody Gelb is a good Morrible. I preferred Patty Duke, but Jody is good.
Deedee Magno Hall is fabulous as Nessarose and Etai BenSholmo is a revelation in the role of Boq. Every move he makes on that stage is completely thought out.

I was seriously thinking, FRISCO, TX--and I was like... hm, good for them. They had a wonderful theater department when I was in high school--always beat us in our theater contest we competed in.

Posted: 7/26/10 at 12:45amSan Francisco's current Glinda, Alli Mauzey, is by far the best Glinda I've ever seen. I would love nothing more than for her to return to the Broadway cast at some point.

You may have been to some place you call "Frisco," but you've never been to San Francisco, or you would KNOW.
Even Judy Garland knew it when she sang,
"There's Brooklyn Bridge,
London Bridge,
And the Bridge...of San Luis Rey!
But the only bridge
That's a real GONE bridge
Is the Bridge...Across the Bay...to
Saaaan Fraaaan-cisco!
I'm coming home again,
Never to roam again, BY GUM!
Saaaaaaaan Fraaaaaaaan-cisco--
I DON'T MEAN 'FRISCO'--
San Fran-CIS-co, HERE I COME!"

It's not like the "The Big Apple" or "The Windy City," nicknames that are accepted by the citizens.
It's like someone you dislike calling you "Sweetie" or someone you don't know calling you by a nickname.
