On another topic: why does his headshot look like he's pulling something out of his ear?

Bizarre choice, although I'm sure he will nail his songs. We can only hope that Brian D'Arcy James is cast when it moves to Broadway.
This just in! No matter who they would've cast, people on here would still bitch and moan!
If the casting I've heard for the Mysterious Man proves true, and people on here still complain, I swear I'm gonna snap.
It's K.D. Lang, isn't it?

There's nothing worse than people who claim they've heard something but then don't say it. Just say it, what's the worst that can happen??!

Well tell us who it is so that we can have an ambulance at the ready.

So, ther reason he never knew about his sister Rapunzel was he was away at Baker's College at the time.
They couldn't get her. It's Lea DeLaria.
The very definition of a "mysterious man".
O'Hare is perfect for this. The biggest problem with the last revival was casting bigger than life, fantasy, fairy tale characters with smaller than life actors. The original was cast was full of interesting actors. Made all the difference. Same thing happened to the Pacific Overtures revival and the first Company revival. One of the many things that helped the Assassins "revival" stand up against the original was it's use of interesting actors who could sing, as opposed to singers who could act...including Mr. O'Hare.

Very good choice. So far, this is a great cast.

PS - Bernadatte Peters was 17 years older than the man playing her husband (whose character was older than hers) in Follies. And they actually state her character's age out loud!

And yet Daphne still couldn't be in the RENT movie.

"Why don't you forget that stuff? You look like you're sixty."
I'm 19. I'm just cracked out for my age.

Some very funny posts here.
RE: Follies, it didn't bother me, but the people sitting next to me were wondering why Danny was so much younger than everyone else on stage.
I think the biggest problem with a 50 year old Baker is that it requires an app. 50 year old Rapunzel, that's a long time for a girl, er woman, to be up in a tower. Wouldn't her hair be smothering the kingdom by now?

Only if he's playing 50.
It's a fairy tale. A 12-year-old Red should have a 45-year-old granny, not the 70ish granny usually portrayed.

This is playing in the Delacorte Theater. Unless your sitting in the first five rows, you won't be able to see how old anyone is anyway. And if you're sitting in the last 10 rows, you won't be able to see the difference between Donna Murphy, Amy Adams or Denise O'Hare.

Is Denise going to be wearing a wig and a dress?
Trade the beans for Viagra.
Kad, I was thinking the exact same thing!! Star casting = bitching. Casting respected stage actors = bitching. Jeez. Personally, I think Denis O'Hare is great and I look forward to what he does with the part.
I think Denis O'Hare will be utterly charming as the Baker. This is the first casting decision that I'm genuinely excited about. Not that I'm dissatisfied with the others cast in the show, I think they'll be fine. But I think this is really interesting casting.

People aren't disappointed that O'Hare was cast, they/we are upset because the pairing of him and Amy Adams makes no sense.
