"I Read"-Passion
"Time Heals Everything"-Mack & Mabel
"Trio"-Passion
"Beautiful"-Sunday in the Park with George
"In Buddy's Eyes"-Follies (if you know the context/character)
"It Wasn't Meant To Happen"-cut from Follies
"Ah, But Underneath"-cut from Follies
"Simple"-Nine
"Dividing Day"-The Light in the Piazza
"Anything written in the last 3 years based on a movie."
hehe
""Why" - Tick Tick Boom (especially if you know what Jonathan has just announced prior to the song)"
That's my favorite song from TTB.
The "Finale" in Cabaret is more disturbing than it is depressing, but "What Would You Do?" is definitely sad - and just filled with hopelessness.
"Roses At The Station" from Grand Hotel is sort of depressing, too, I suppose.
"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
What Kind of Fool Am I-------------Stop the World I Want to Get Off
"Still Hurting" and "Nobody Needs to Know" from L5Y absolutely destroy me. "President" from Ragtime upsets me so much that I can't even listen to it. I always skip straight from "Wheels of a Dream" to "Till We Reach That Day."
I'd also like to add "There's a Fine Line" from Avenue Q to the songs already mentioned. And "Far From the Home I Love" from Fiddler.

"The Dark I Know Well" in "Spring Awakening." Nothing like a healthy dose of child sexual abuse.
"There's a part I can't tell
About the dark I know well"
Also the opening strains of "Finishing the Hat" right before "Yes, she looks for me -- good." "Sunday" breaks my heart.
And "It Don't Make Sense" from "Parade."
'Nothing like you've ever known' and the title song from Tell Me on a Sunday/Song & Dance
'Beautiful' from Sunday in the Park. When the Old Woman says "How I long for the old view" my heart just breaks...
'Happily Every After' - cut from Company but appears in Marry Me A Little (if that show is still even licenced)

Wow so many people that know Annie Warbucks. I didn't think that anyone knew that show. I have done it twice, once as Daddy Warbucks and once as musical director. There is a song that Grace sings, that just tears my heart out, but I can't think of the name of it.
Wht Would I do from Falsettos, oh my God, when I did that show I couldn't stop crying when I sang that song.
The song I'm Not Saying a word from Blood Brothers.
"The Barber and His Wife," Sweeney Todd.

Joel, I think Grace's song is "It Could Have Been Wonderful"
i'm suprised no one has said "no good deed"
but yeah, a lot of Parade is pretty depressing
and "private conversation", the finale, and well a most of Side Show really, lol. but i still love that how.
Without You and Goodbye Love from Rent are pretty depressing.
"Around the World" and "Another Winter in a Summer Town" from GREY GARDENS

Every song in "The Life" except for My Friend.
I secong "Beautiful" From SITPWG is the only song thats ever made me cry. By far my favorite song in that whole show.
"Another Hundred People" from Company is depressing too.

In the context of the show, "The Next Ten Minutes" is absolutely devastating. I think it's even more depressing than something like "Nobody Needs to Know," because it hurts to see those two characters pledge their lives to one another while you know the ending.
