re: Did Schwartz storm out of the Oscars after he lost?

I had never heard that, but I was definitely hoping "Falling Slowly" would take the award. Enchanted did great business and was seen by plenty of people, Once was a great little movie with such a great story that was done on such a low budget and truly felt like it was made out of a love for the movies rather than to make tons of money. I hope that this win will get more people to rent the DVD and possibly buy the soundtrack. It really deserves so much more attention than it got.

I doubt this is true. First of all why would he even think he had a chance of winning after the mixed to negative reviews that greeted WICKED, with particular disappointment rserved for his wildly uneven score. But if Schwartz did storm out, he is certainly lacking in professionalism.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

LOL!! Good one Sueleengay! I am so freakin' ecstatic that ONCE won. BY far the most earnest film/soundtrack this year. I highly recommend this movie/ cd to everyone.

Such a great speech Glen made and inspires anyone to make art and keep at it.Very nice that Marta was able to give her speech after they cut her off.. nice job!!!

It's so funny to me that he stormed out at the Tonys. With Avenue Q and Caroline, or Change nominated he didn't have a chance in hell and if he was only there to win he should have just stayed home.

I'll second what nyb418 said...

That was extremely classy of them to allow Marta back after they had cut her off like that. I felt so bad for her and what she said was very moving.

Come So Far did NOT get nominated. It should have, but it didn't.

I too would like to congratulate ONCE. Great film, even greater soundtrack!

And while I also find Schwartz's Tony march out funny, why would he march out of the Oscars? 1) He's known to a much smaller % of Oscar people as Tony people, 2) He's already won 3 Oscars, and 3) If you saw the shot of him, he was pretty far in on the aisle - at least 5 or 6 people would have to let him out before any storming could take place.

I didn't catch Schwartz at the Oscars. He actually did an admirable job with ENCHANTED (perhaps the film I enjoyed the most in '07, not the best one or my favorite one, but the one I had the most fun at) and I would have loved to see Menken and him win.
And "Come So Far" did not get nominated (rightly so), you may be confused with "So Close" from ENCHANTED, the one song from the film that perhaps should have been left out.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

The thing I find so funny about "So Close" is what happened when I saw the movie. They announce it as a waltz, and a second after the song started, my incredibly music minded friend leaned over and whispered, "That's not a waltz." And all I could think during the performance was, "It's still not a waltz."
PLEASE! Do not post anything negative or dramatic! DidYouReallyHearMe has LOST the ability to ignore such posts and he will comment! Please, help him.

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-

Seriously, win on pastiche of former Disney songs that have been nominated ,or won before??? Pastiche: (n) a dramatic, musical,or literay piece openly imitating the previous works of previous works of the artists, often with a satirical intent...Enchanted was ENTIRE SATIRE OF ALL THE PREVIOUS pRINCESS STORIES...including the jamaicaan singer(ie:kiss the girl)

The three performances from Enchanted last night just proved how shaky the songs were on their own. Even though two of them got big production numbers, the Central Park number was nothing without all the dancers and such behind it.

Once winning was a foregone conclusion anyway because so many people loved and wanted to support the film.
