I really like the resale option. I bought some tickets on resale and was able to sell the one I didn't need. I priced it at exactly what I paid for it, and it sold.

TweetiePie how bad was TM's cut? Or do you just price it at what you needed to get back and they add their markup on the buyer's end?

Well, I am getting back $350 and the ticket price was $400. So they are getting $50. This was for a seat in the front row of the front side mezzanine, four seats from the aisle. Someone is/was selling two seats in the front row center of the front mezzanine on the aisle. Nice seats, but they are charging over $800. I priced my ticket to get back what I paid.

P.S.: In case I wasn't clear. When you put your price in, they tell you what the charge will be with their cut. So I could see the price that potential buyers would see. I could adjust my price up and down as needed. I knew I wanted to keep it around $400 so it would be sure to sell.

I'm bumping this up because a new block of tickets went on sale today at 10 a.m. I went online just to check it out but knew I couldn't afford to buy any more tickets because my credit card is groaning. Anyway, I went online at about 10:15 and it was a feeding frenzy already, even worse than previous times. Ticketmaster shut off the map functionality because of high volume. I tried for regular priced orchestra seats, and at one point I was offered Row S seats 1 and 3. Those must be right on the aisle, but I thought they might be too far back. I probably should have grabbed them for resale, but I just don't have the scalper gene. Did none else get tickets today?
By the way, you didn't need to use an Amex card today, as was the case for the other times, which were pre sales. Maybe that's why the volume was so high today.

I was on Ticketmaster this morning at 9:55 and refreshing the page for the sale to start. The first 10 minutes or so we're not at all busy, and the system allowed me to choose my own seats. I bought a pair of the Rear Mezzanine $67 tickets first and by the time I had finished that transaction the site did pick up volume and started generating seats. I also grabbed a pair of Right Orchestra seats for $177 each for another performance. I'm not 100% sure if I will be able to go on that date and time, but I wanted to grab them while they are available and worst comes to worst I can try to sell them. By the time I stopped, it looked like there was an 11 minute queue to populate available seats and it looks like the dates sold all of the non-premium seats very quickly!

I also was on ticketmaster right away at 10:00 this morning, but due to some kind of issue with my phone's signal I had trouble viewing any of the seats at all until 10:08 or so and by then the website showed that all seats below $199 were already sold out, which I thought was crazy. So I bought some in mezzanine row B for next October 8th, which is coincidentally my anniversary. Now the painful 11 month wait! we'll be in the city in March (She Loves Me opens on my birthday) but I didn't know that until it was too late to get any tickets below $400, I may try the lottery while we're there though.

You guys did great! I forgot about the sale until 10:15, and by that time it was chaos. I did okay the past two releases, so I'll have to content myself with those seats. Also, there are some new shows coming up that I really want to see!

I walked by the theater at 12pm as I wanted to inquire about availability of box seats. To my surprise there were about 100 people in line at the box office. I didn't bother to go in the line. Is it like this everyday?

No, it must be because of the new batch of tickets. I went to the box office two weeks ago at lunchtime and pretty much walked right up.

I bumped this up this thread in case we want to keep a record of the Hamilton new sales and pre-sales.
I got on Ticketmaster about 10:10 this morning just to check it out.
The new premium price is $549, and the new regular orchestra price is $199. Most of the orchestra and front mezzanine has been sold already, but I did see a couple of side orchestra seats (Row M) that will give a great view for $199 (a Sunday matinee). Rear side mezzanine seems to be $139, and those used to be, what, $79?
So only part of the month of January 2017 is on sale at this time.

I'm so glad I only paid $57 per ticket for both the first and last previews. So for $114 total, I saw the show twice with the full original cast. Too bad the middle class can no longer afford to see this show.

The prices are ridiculous but as long as scalping is legal in NY, I can't fault the people who actually made the show for wanting a larger cut.

Very glad I bought my tickets when the last batch went on sale in November and got the rear mezzanine for $67 a ticket (before fees).

this has nothing to do with class. i am low-to-middle class but still find the resources. how? carefully managing and prioritizing my own personal finances. i go to dunkin donuts instead of starbucks every morning to save potentially hundreds of dollars every year and then spend that saved money on something like hamilton tix. it is possible. it is not about class.

No matter what, it is a significant cost to purchase 2 tickets, one year in advance. Challenging to plan so far out. I feel bad for the people that lost out last Saturday with the storm. Plus if you do not live in the area, transportation, lodging etc.
Wasted too much time on site. Probably should have pulled the trigger on first seats I looked at. Just hard to justify, so far in advance, for seats that may not be that great for $199 or $179 plus fees.

I was n a meeting all morning and couldn't get on to purchase tickets until about 11:45. For those who got on right away, I'm just curious how quickly the non-premium orchestra tickets were scooped up? Was it even a fair fight for normal buyers?
Pricing is what it is, I just can't believe that Row N of the orchestra is considered premium ... that's a bit much.

I was having a problem logging in (password issues) so didn't get on until I was at work at almost 8 Pacific time. There were still $199 seats in Row S, left and front orchestra, at that time, only 2-3 seats off from the aisle. That's in addition to ones in rows farther back, as well as a few in the front extreme sides.
