Ok, I know I couldn't have been the only one who sang along to the HAIRSPRAY film. I didn't sing all the way through, just during Seaweed's parts! I guess I've just been bottled up with so much excitement this week, I couldn't do anything BUT sing! IT WAS THE MOST FUN I'VE HAD AT THE MOVIES EVER!!!!!!!!

as much as i appreciate people loving this movie and havin fun... i hated the people who sang with it at my show... i came to hear the people on the screen sing... not a group of kids!!! it was rather annoying!
I haven't seen it yet, but I will definitely resist the urge to sing along out of respect for the other people there. Nobody is paying to hear me sing and ruin the movie.
Well, I didn't sing along, but I got to admit.....watching that amazing choreography during YCSTB, as corny as it sounds, I really did want to get up and dance. Seriously. I was having such a good time. Maybe if, or should I say when, I see it again I'll sing along. :)

I wasn't singing LOUD or anything, just quietly to myself. It's not like I hopped out in front of the screen and put on a show!
Um, I'm not trying to sound rude, but if you were sitting next to me, I'd be rather irritated that you were singing.
I did my best not to. But I definitely mouthed most of it :) I couldn't help it!
I rocked out, not really singing. I was surprised that more people hadn't carried a tune. And it seemed like a lot of people never saw the play. Now I have to get the soundtrack, as they added a few more songs.
I mouthed along. It was difficult not to. But because I try not to be an obnoxious c*** of an audience member, I didn't make a single sound as I did so. :P

The annoying b**ch behind me was mouthing every other joke and line from a song. I wanted to turn around and slap her.

My audience was commenting and laughing up a storm. They loved it. When one girl started singing in the beginning, I audibly said "Oh $h!t!" and she stopped. If I can keep myself from singing, anyone can.
I mouthed but I'm going to be honest... I was dancing in my seat.

To anyone reading this who considers it acceptable to sing along at a musical, whether live or on screen---I implore you: please don't.
Unless it's Sing-Along Sound of Music or Rocky Horror, NO ONE wants to hear you sing along with the soundtrack, no matter how good you think you are.
A teeny bit, just during my favorite parts (especially "there's a struggle STRUGGLE we have yet to win).
But everyone knew the show, everyone knew what was going on. There were current and former cast members of the show there. I say let them sing, as long as it's low. The credits turned into a full sing a-long.
Such bad manners to sing along...
I couldn't help it! but I wasnt loud .. I was singing to myself. The screening I went to was dead! there were less than 10 people in this 200 seat theatre.
some parts i couldn't contain myself, but it was nothing obnoxious. it was just so exciting to hear and see on the big screen!
I managed to restrain myself. My friend with me didn't. At the end, during the credits, we did sing Mama I'm a Big Girl Now, but there were only like 5 people left and they were all singing too.
no one sang when I saw it. If they had, I would have found an usher. It is so inappropriate to other viewers that it's not even funny
No singing from me or anyone at the two screenings I've gone to so far. I did a little seat-dancing and mouthing along here and there, but that's it.
