Feels way too soon for this. Sorta like when Disney made the decision to fast-track Frozen to Broadway.

If they wanted to do a sequel and make it live action, I'd guess I'd understand. Doing a straight remake that'll probably come out around a decade after the original is a strange move.

What are they drinking over there that would make them think a live-action version of a movie not even close to a decade old would be a smart idea. A Broadway show would actually make more sense. What could they possibly have to say that's new to justify a new movie?

Definitely too soon. Though in terms of Disney’s Broadway adaptations, both Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King opened on Broadway just three years after their films premiered. Frozen took five years to come to the stage. I think Frozen’s problem was just that the movie’s storyline was very slight to begin with, and what was added to the story to pad it out for the stage wasn’t very good.

I loved Moana don't get me wrong but i was hoping it would be about that animated Disney Plus series that's been in the works for a while. Dwayne better know what the heck he is doing. At least it's fun making an announcement with his two daughters. Miranda love you man but seven years too soon to redo this already iconic story.

I was right to skip the Frozen Broadway show but some of the new songs sounded decent. At least Aladdin is worth seeing in spite the over 2 decade gap

My thoughts on the reasons are

1) the rumoured moana land at wdw is going to happen and they want the two to coincide

2) The Rock doesn't want anyone else playing maui in the inevitable remake so is using his influence to get it fast tracked before he ages out of the role
