Posted: 1/28/12 at 11:35pmJust wondering what some of the people here think? Do you think that they will be at the opening night of Evita? I am guessing Mandy might but that Patti won't.

Posted: 1/28/12 at 11:39pmI doubt it. Patti I am sure is a no. Mandy is unlikely, but might if he has nothing better to do.

Posted: 1/28/12 at 11:59pmI don't see why Patti and Mandy wouldn't see the show at some point. I'm sure they will. It might not be on opening night, but still.

Patti is one of only a few I trust.
She needs to attend! That way, I can see if it's any good going by her inability to hide what she really feels. Like the hilarious expressions she made at the Tonys--spoke louder than words! So when they ask what she thought of Roger, her voice will say "she was aiight." Her expression will scream: "That bitch? Got nuthin' on me."

Patti saw Sutton do Anything Goes (after Sutton won the Tony for the role and Patti did not) and Mandy saw the Roundabout revival of Sunday in the Park (his all-time favorite show, and his favorite performing experience) -- if that means anything. Mandy and Patti saw their biggest competition of the season, too - Hugh Jackman.
Patti's friend Michael Cerveris is playing a lead (and I'm sure will be great), I don't see why they wouldn't go to see it. It would be childish of them to avoid it. If she does go, I'm sure it won't be opening night because then she'd have to see her good friend Andy there. And what a confrontation that would be.

I do find these stories interesting. In a semi-related example apparently Bernadette Peters also saw the Roundabout revival of SUNDAY but did not head over and see her Tony Award winning-Pal Patti in GYPSY because it was "too soon".

Too soon for what? And she actually saw SITPWG, I was there.

Posted: 1/29/12 at 1:25amIn Arthur's book, he just said that he invited Bernie to his new production, and Bernie just felt it was "too soon." Too close to her production which was near and dear to her heart.

Yeah, I don't doubt that because I am not making this up randomly :P, she mentioned it in an interview.
(Too soon since she played the role)

Posted: 1/29/12 at 1:35amThat might just be the worst picture of Bernadette ever taken. She looks like she's 300 pounds and ANGRY.

Posted: 1/29/12 at 1:56amI'm sure LuPone will see the show, but probably not on opening night. I highly doubt she wants to run into Sir Andrew.

I think if Patti wants to go, she will go. Why should she avoid ALW? "Let HIM squirm, I have every f*cking right to be there!" I imagine her thinking.
(Btw, is Sir redundant now that he's a Lord?)
Edit - in any case, as a non-British citizen, I don't recognize whatever title he may have. He's just Mr. Lloyd Webber in America.

Patti and Lord Lloyd Webber in the same theater-- now THERE'S a show I'd pay to see!

Posted: 1/29/12 at 9:13amBecause if and when LuPone goes, she'll want the story to be about the original Eva Peron returning to the show. On opening night, that won't be the story.

^ As if Patti would find that statement insulting.
She'd probably respond to the idea of having her original take of Eva celebrated on the opening night of another's with "he's right, dolls!"

Posted: 1/29/12 at 11:04amPatti has said in several interviews that she is very excited to see the new production. I think Mandy said he would, as well. Patti said she's happy it's not a carbon copy of the Prince production.
