Don't laugh. I thought was a particularly astute posting. That's why I shared it.

I could see her as Roxie in Chicago.

I can see her and Kathie Lee Gifford in a revival of "Side Show".

Another daytime tv bitsy-voiced soccer mom blonde I want to punch in the face. I can't stand Kelly Ripa.
So my answer is NO.
So my answer is NO.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

I think she'd be great taking over for Hope David in God of Carnage if Davis chose to leave before it closed.

Kelly has already done Mary Poppins and West Side Story:

I actually thought she wasn't half bad as Mary Poppins.

Actually, while it's a bit thin (nerves?) her voice is kinda nice. I'd love to see her tackle something other than Chicago...that isn't also a big dance part.

Unfortunately, she's the first one to say she DOESN'T belong on Broadway. She also doesn't consider herself much of an actress, which she clearly makes known whenever someone calls her one. This is also why she's turned down many film roles she's been offered. She's fully aware of ALL of her limitations and fully embraces them. She's keen to know she's been quite lucky on all accounts -- especially her long tenure on ALL MY CHILDREN and considers her current gig (as co-host of LIVE opposite Regis Philbin) "... feels like winning the lottery".
Also, she's turned-down DANCING WITH THE STARS repeatedly (too much work and too much of a solid commitment) and is happy just doing what she is doing (her commercials; charity work; full-time mom, etc). She's also started an active production company along with her husband Mark Consuelos -- their first one, which is currently airing on TLC is titled MASTERS OF RECEPTION.

There was also a segment on the show once where she was practicing with the New York City Ballet company, and she wasn't all that bad. So, I do think she could dance.

Kelly has said she loves theatre and adores and appreciates stage actors more than anyone, but that her life does not afford her the time commitment to do a stage production. That being said, I feel she may try one when her kids are grown, but right now she likes her days free. She is very family oriented and the money she would make on Broadway would be peanuts in comparison to her TV gig and endorsements.
I like Kelly, but she does irritate me most mornings. I have to be honest.

Actually, she did some lovely very nuanced work on AMC -- her middle years, after she stopped being the black-haired cliche teen. When her mother Arlene arrived, the material made altogether different demands on her, for quite a while, and she was extraordinary.
If anyone saw the year where she was emotionally paralyzed, unable to marry or move forward with her life because she was still in the grip of co-dependency to her mother's addictions (booze, sex), you'd have to agree: Ripa was a real actor, who brought much to the harrowing scenes.
But then she became this "TV personality," all chrip and wise-cracks, and did that ghastly Friday night sitcom. It wasn't the same person. I wonder if she could drop all of that and retury to the simplicity and emotional depth she found as the tortured Hayley. Her work was Emmy nomination worthy during her middle years, and if anyone saw that material now, they'd see acting, not personality.

I won't lie... I love Kelly. I'd be interested to see her do Broadway, I just don't know what.

Her work on "Hope and Faith" featured some of the worst overacting/mugging I've ever seen. Everything that gives sitcoms a bad name.

Please, no.
While she did have some good moments on All My Children, they were fewer and fewer by her last years on the show. Calling it phoning it in would be an insult to phones.
These days, everything about her seems to be an act and not a very good one.

I loved all her work on AMC. As far as Regis and Kelly goes-she's doing exactly what is called for in that position. I hate it, but that's what they want. Same thing Kathy Lee did (whom I hated more).

So then, you agree that Kelly belongs on Broadway. Perhaps in that rumored revival of DANCING? Or maybe MAN OF LA MANCHA?
