Peter and the Starcatchers was such a well-deserved success and I assume will transfer to Broadway. Does anyone think it will hurt the chances of Finding Neverland (recently announced by the Weinstein Company)? Do we really need two Peter Pan-related shows?
My memory is that Finding Neverland, is more about Barrie and the creation of his Peter Pan esp w regard to the children next door.
P&TSC is almost an alternate universe Peter Pan, references Barrie's work but is not a complete reproduction.
Don't think they'd really be in competition w each other BUT alot would depend on HOW they were each marketed.
NOT. AT. ALL.
In fact, it could only *help* FINDING NEVERLAND.
FINDING NEVERLAND is the story of J.M. Barrie and how he came to create and write the play PETER PAN, OR THE BOY WHO WOULDN'T GROW UP.
PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is based on the novel which is an unofficial prequel to the book PETER AND WENDY (the novel which came after the play, both written by Barrie).

Unlike me, most of the rest of the world never seems to tire of variations on The Wizard of Oz, so what's a couple of more Peters Pan?
Or THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS...

But the WIzard of Oz takes the cake and eats it too.
Well at least the cake in Peter Pan is poisoned!
I think it would have to. Sure they aren't the same thing, but explaining that requires more explanation than the traditional marketing campaign. Both involve Peter Pan, and would use that classic story as a hook to get audiences in seats.
Even though Finding Neverland has much bigger name recognition, I'm sure the producers can't be pleased by a possible Starcatchers transfer.
Isn't Disney the main producer behind both? I KNOW they are for Starcatcher.

Finding Neverland was made by Miramax but the musical version is being developed by The Weinstein Company.
Peter and the Starcatcher was developed by Disney but NYTW are producing the current run but I imagine Disney will be head producer if the show transfer to Broadway.
The answer is yes.
Did Oliver Stone's "Alexander the Great" film hurt Baz Luhrmann's?

Finding Neverland is a tragic romance.
Starcatchers is story theater for children.
