I know on TDF it says the box office will ask to see an ID. Also lottery wins, and other ticketing schemes. Do they actually check though? The only place that actually asks for it is city center for the cheap tickets for under 40 year olds.

If the ticket is under your name and you have ID, just bring ID. If it's under your name and you don't have ID, maybe you can call ahead of time and see if you can bring an alternative form of identification.
If this ticket is under the name of a friend or relative, you can try it but there's no way of getting around there's at least a risk, they'll turn you away.

I've always been asked for an ID, especially when I was getting those cheap tickets for below 40 age group. Same with TDF tickets, always asked. The only theater I wasn't asked for an ID was Belasco, but that's probably because I was really late and in a hurry to pick up the ticket before the show started.

I usually get there 5 minutes prior to show time so I don't know if it's because they're in a rush, but I've almost never been asked for ID for TDF and friends have been able to pick up tickets under my name when they've gotten there first (I have an Asian last name and on multiple occasions white friends have been able to pick up tickets).

Not only can it vary from box office to box office, but even based on who is handling your transaction at the box office.

They ask for ID to see if it’s the same name. They don’t actually check ages.

I won lottery rod for Book of Mormon for tomorrow. If I sell it someone else, I don’t want the box office to ask for id

You sound like one of those people who (a) doesn't mind breaking the law and, in this case, the terms of the contract (license) you just bought and (b) gets a certain thrill out of this sort of risk. Let us know when your growing appetite for risk lands you in the federal prison system. Maybe you will get lucky like SBF and end up at Terminal Island to serve out your sentence.

I always assume they will. Some of the nonprofits have gotten much more strict with checking since people try to game the system. Second Stage is the toughest.

I’d guess for lottery they’d check considering it’s part of the deal. General will call or digital rush pickup they may be more lenient.
