Official: TITANIQUE to dock at the St. James, March 2026 (16 Weeks Only) Feb 19 2026, 11:07:41 PM

I was at a Q&A Melissa Barrera did for the obscure movie Your Monster back in 2024, and basically out of nowhere, she started talking about how much she wanted to be cast in a Broadway musical.

Liza memoir and promotion tour Feb 9 2026, 02:54:16 PM
Jay Lerner-Z said: "NYC. Will tickets sell out fast? How long do I have to make up my mind?"
The Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center main sanctuary is cavernous and seats 2,500 people. It's not clear from the ticket if it will be held there, or a smaller room which would fit about 600 people.

Liza memoir and promotion tour Feb 9 2026, 10:30:29 AM
Liza Minnelli will be live in NYC with Michael Feinstein at The Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center, on March 23 at 7:30pm: Link
Tickets are about $66 with tax, come with a signed book, and are general admission. It's also the exact same price to watch it online and get a signed book. It's $150 for a reserved section ticket.
Not cheap, but definitely cheap compared to the LA appearance.

She has starred in New York’s ‘worst show’ for 40 years. Why? Jan 20 2026, 01:08:26 PM
"It is the lowest-ranked out of 28 live shows listed on the site Show Score, where a third of its reviews give zero, one, or even half a star out of five."
Even half a star? Does Kawaller (the writer) think half a star is a lower rating than zero stars?
Obviously, Perfect Crime's Show-Score rating of 40% Positive, 19% Mixed, and 41% Negative isn't great but still a net majority of audience members are getting something out of it. For a produ

Hamilton and Slavery - Unrevivable? Jan 16 2026, 01:59:02 AM
Without getting into a semi-academic discussion about what's been proven about Hamilton and slaves and what's speculation, I don't see what it would change in terms of the future reception of the show. Looking the other way on slavery and the founding fathers, has always been baked into the show's concept.
Yes, Alexander Hamilton is the main focus of the show, but he's already portrayed as very flawed character. George Washington is portrayed as the much

The Death of the Understudy Slip Jan 15 2026, 12:09:01 AM
Getting rid of understudy slips really drives me nuts, not because I'm against it in a vacuum but The Broadway League is being really selective in what they consider wasteful. At least those slips are giving me information I'll look at. The full color inserts I often get in Playbills reminding me to turn off my phone I'm sure are more expensive to make and are pretty redundant, as ushers are paid to make the same point.

Jennifer Lopez Sings Broadway Jan 14 2026, 11:49:09 PM

Whatever Cowboy Carter's artistic merit, I liked it a lot more than Renaissance, the Cowboy Carter tour was having trouble moving tickets, at least compared to previous Beyonce tours. Considering Lopez just canceled a tour because of horrible ticket sales, an unexpected genre

RAGTIME 2025 Reviews Jan 13 2026, 12:55:33 AM

As far as I know, and I did look into it today, in real life Harry Houdini never met Archduke Franz Ferdinand. In a vacuum I have no problem with the Houdini being in Ragtime. He's not the only Jewish immigrant who moved to America and reinventing himself in the show.
But like the s

FANtomFollies said: "Not trying to invalidate your opinion at all - but I think this may just be a symptom of seeing the show multiple times and becoming more familiar with it. I remember seeing it for the first time in the 2009 revivial being blown away and thinking it was the perfect book of a musical - right up there with Gypsy and other classics. But then after seeing it at City Center and twice at Lincoln Center, it is a bit clunky and creaky."

Carrie Coon tells it like it is Jan 11 2026, 08:54:12 PM
FANtomFollies said: "I found it interesting and hypocritical that they made such a big deal about how unfair it is to have to be a celebrity to be in a Broadway show, but then gave no credit to the (non-A-list) rest of the cast of Bug. Also no acknowledgement that Carrie being the partner of the playwright played a role in her getting the part."
Okay, this is the problem of criticizing what someone says in the context of a chopped up TikTok clip. CBS put the full 25 minute extended interview on YouTube, and it turns out it's a joint interview with Carrie Coon and Tracy Letts, primarily about their dynamics as a couple.
She does talk about Namir Smallwood. She does talk about how she got cast, which was basically Tracy saying I think you're old enough to play the part now. They also talked about how both Letts and Coon have both turned down work so the other can take a job.
Realistically, Tracy Letts would play a big role in any part Coon took on Broadway, regardless of who the playwright is, for childcare reasons.

ALL OUT: COMEDY ABOUT AMBITION Reviews Dec 23 2025, 05:01:07 PM
I skipped All In because of the price issue, and saw All Out last night in the context of getting a ticket where I couldn't complain about the price. The cast was Jim Gaffigan, Eric Andre, Abbi Jacobson, and Ben Schwartz.
Overall, I enjoyed it. I'm never going to be onboard with the decision to do this reading instead of staged performance. While that's mostly about getting in big names in for a week or two, without them having to learn the lines, I don't

Vape or Don’t Vape? Dec 23 2025, 04:02:36 PM
I saw this in March at Town Hall as Vape! The Grease Parody, where it was staged as a one-night benefit concert with people including Kerry Butler, Rachel Dratch, Joel Perez, Jackie Hoffman and Ann Harada. I haven't seen the new Off-Broadway version, but I thought it was extremely stupid in the best way. I'd recommend it.

They barely show the audience at all which is completely un-noteworthy unless you were at the taping. It appeared they hadn't come up with a plan ahead of time of where to seat the audience and a good chunk of time was spent reseating people. Including for shots that weren't used.

The Expensive Lie: Why Does Broadway Keep Spending Millions on Marketing That Doesn't Work? Dec 3 2025, 03:58:41 PM
Some thoughts on this article:
#1. I think it's understood by almost everyone that word-of-mouth recommendations are more influential than digital ad campaigns in selling tickets. However, you can't get a word-of mouth campaign going without first convincing some people to see the play in the first place.
Throwing out digital campaigns completely doesn't make as much sense as figuring out how to better target the digital ad spend. For ex

OFFICIAL: Lane/Metcalf DEATH OF A SALESMAN to open at Winter Garden, March 2026 Dec 1 2025, 02:59:37 PM
In a vacuum this sounds great, but the combination of Death of a Salesman having just been on Broadway and not particularly wanting to support Scott Rudin, this is a pass for me.

STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW Reviews Nov 30 2025, 04:37:05 PM
Matt Duffer gave an interview in Entertainment Weekly, where he said no actor from the play will appear in Season 5, because only a few people will see the play, and they want Season 5 to make sense as a standalone experience.
The explanation makes zero sense to me because say you're going to use a different actor to play young Joyce Byers anyway, it's no more or less confusing to the general audience if it's the same actress from First Shadow.

The Public Theater - Ethan Lipton’s “The Seat of Our Pants” Nov 28 2025, 02:01:53 PM
That's interesting. I thought it was extremely funny in the moment, but between the time jumps, and some actors playing different characters, breaking the fourth wall made it too narratively chaotic. I'm sure that's intentional, it just didn't work for me.

The Public Theater - Ethan Lipton’s “The Seat of Our Pants” Nov 28 2025, 01:12:03 PM
Having no prior experience with the material, this musical is both incredibly pretentious and makes fun of it's own pretentiousness, with the Micaela Diamond role pretending to break character to complain about the project. The point being it feels like any possible approach to the material was shoe horned in. It's overstuffed.
While I enjoyed individual moments and songs, on the whole this feels like the type of overly long show you deserve a medal for sit

If you have control of your powers to the point where you can summon a house from another dimension to land on a specific person (a ridiculously forced connection to Wizard of Oz), Morrible for sure could figure out how to kill Glinda.
