Which do you prefer? My vote goes to Glee.

Glee
I quite prefer Rock of Ages. At least they actually keep it as a rock song.
Well, based on those videos alone, Glee wins. I haven't seen RoA, but that number apparently doesn't work out of context because I was extremely confused as to who all the characters were and why they were singing things the way they were. Not a very good choice to sell the show on the Today Show.
Glee!
Glee. Whatever problems the pilot had, they at least had a great final 5 minutes.
Rock of Ages' is great. Glee's is AMAZING.
Vote: Glee
I give it to ROA since that show has been around for 3 years doing that number. Not saying they stole the idea, but ROA was a big hit in LA- especially with the film and tv community (why they got a movie deal before they even made it to Bway) so I have to give ROA the points for originality. Not to mention the story of ROA unfolds through the song (as opposed to just a random show choir cover)
Rock of Ages appreciated the fact that the song is a drunken 80s classic, and apparently realized that (unlike most of their songs) they could get the rights to it. So they give it the final slot in their show, which as a trashy classic (and I mean that in a good way, because I love Don't Stop Believin' literally exactly as much as I... tolerated Rock of Ages) it absolutely deserved.
Glee used it almost entirely unironically, which I didn't quite understand. I mean, considering the show's messages, I would think that they would use it in some slightly subversive way. They gave the kid in the wheelchair the lead solo in "Sit Down You're Rockin' The Boat!" But still, I think they reinterpreted the song fabulously, and I know I'll listen to it on a fairly regular basis, which is more than I can say about the Rock of Ages version, if they ever release a cast recording.

Glee, definitely.
The Glee performance was not live and more than likely enhanced in studio. So I'll go with ROA.
Live or not, I find the arrangement for Glee's version much more thrilling.
I love them both so so much.
Still, I have a ridiculous love for James Carpinello. So right now, I'm gonna say ROA. But they're basically even, so it could switch at any point.
I agree with everything scott86 said. :3 (Except he seems to have seen ROA in its entirety, and this is the first I've seen of it. XD)
Mind you, having poked around the ebuTuoY, I've come to the conclusion that I totally prefer *both* these versions to the original. XD
HATED Glee...but you cannot deny they SOUNDED great
From the clips....have to go with Glee.
ROA is live and alive. Glee was made to 'sound' perfect.
ROA is better.
They are two different kinds of performances- hard to compare.
I like Rock Of Ages!
They put more emotion and feeling into it.
I didn't like Glee, but I haaaated Rock of Ages. And that may have been my least favorite moment of ROA. They ruined one of the best known songs, regardless of what decade it's from.
Glee definitely wins.
are we seriously comparing a number that was shot and choreographed over several hour, sync'd to a track that was recorded, mixed, and mastered in a studio- performed by actors in fantastic lighting and hours of make-up... to a number that was recorded LIVE at the ass-crack of dawn, outside, on video?! Go call the Glee cast to get up at 5:30 and perform that number outside rockefeller center and let's compare THAT! this thread is pretty ignorant.

OMG...
I'm agreeing with somebody named Snarky... but I digress..
The highly orchestrated, studioized, recorded, and dubbed version is superior to the outdoor live early morning version.
O.K.?
