I'm really happy about all the SWIWS recognition. Bias is going to make me want to root for Idina, but her chances don't look so great.
I'm disappointed by the lack of Alba nominations and Anthony Mackie from A Soldier's Play.

Question: Now that Jan Maxwell has left Entertaining Mr. Sloane can she still win?

Sure. Why wouldn't she? She's been seen and reviewed by all the voters, so who cares if she left a week or two early. There's a over dozen people nominated who were in shows that closed months ago (and a couple have a legitimate show at winning).

These seven people are not even credible journalists. The very idea that such recognition is given to a group of losers-without-portfolio hiding behind the grand name "Drama Desk" is a joke. Their lack of taste, likely racism and out-of-touchness with reality should put them out of business for good.
I guess these days any 7 people can get together and nominate their favorites, however, the amateurish moves of the DD nominations lessens the credbility of the entire theater community.
Any card carrying member of the "Drama Desk" should be ashamed and embarrassed at this outrage.
Not taking away anything from the wonderful shows (and not so wonderful shows) that opened this season, true theater fans should laugh at the absurdity of these nitwits and their very narrow-minded and ignorant opinions.

I would have liked Colin Hanlon to have gotten a nomination for I Love You Because, but I guess you can't have everything. I am glad it got Lyrics.

About Eddie Krobich getting nominated over Danny Burstein, I may be the minority, but I enjoyed Korbich more than Burstein. Not that I didn't enjoy Burstein's performance, I thought it was very good, but Korbich was just an amazing dancer, had a great voice and was just all around incredible, but then again, I am a dancer, so I normally do have a biast for people who dance in shows, and are able to pull it off very well.
oy with the poodles already!

I just can't get over The Color Purple - sure, it isn't the greatest piece of theatre ever, but to get nothing at all!!!!!! I'm really disappointed for the show, and the stellar cast.

A lot of insulting remarks here about the Drama Desk's nominations. Would you all be as harsh if they nominated shows and people that YOU enjoyed?
I mean, do people see these nominations and think, "how DARE they differ with my views???They must be racist and ignorant, and have an evil agenda as well".

It strikes me as a little odd that those pictures of the Drama Desk announcements are full of white people, and so is the list of nominations.

The fact that the Color Purple was totally snubbed has me completely in shock. Not only is it probably one of the best, if not the best, new musical running on broadway right now, but the performances in it are simply phenomenal. We were all sure Lachanze and Lupone were the top two actresses in the race for the Tony's and for Lachanze to be completely snubbed is simply outrageous. Then for the two featured ladies to be snubbed, Fields and Mendez. It's really laughable. The performances of one of these three ladies should have been recognized at the very least.
I'm also a little upset about Daphne Rubin-Vega being overlooked. I thought she was phenomenal in Bernarda Alba and certainly deserved a nod for featured actress. She was the saving grace of that show. Although I do think it deserves its choreography award.
I can't believe of what happened with Sweeney's supporting players. While I love Alexander's performance and thought he did an excellent job, I too would not have put him about Mano. I also despise the fact that none of the supporting women in Sweeney were nominated. Lauren, Diana, and Donna were all snubbed. That's shocking to me.
Also, Cyndi Lauper deserves a nom. Bottom line.
I'm extremely happy for Grey Gardens, Drowsy, and See What I Wanna See. These shows deserve, in my opinion, every nomination they got and I hope they take all of the wins between them.

Aww, Harpo! What a cute Snoopy dance! It looks *just* like Roger Bart, hehe.
I, too, am thrilled about Daniel Reichard. For the Tonys though, I would like to see all three featured Jersey Boys nominated.

Once again: Where's the love for SEASCAPE?
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Wanna be a Foster: I LOVE LOVE LOVE Your Avatar. Jake looks so much like my fiance in that picture

Wanna Be A Foster, thanks. And yes, I agree. It will be good to see all four of them nominated.
