Stephanie J. Block would be a TERRIBLE Diana. She's nowhere close to being a good enough actress.

Natalie:Lea Michele
Gabe: Gavin Creel
Henry: Jonathan Groff

Huh... I'm curious on why people would pick Groff as Henry. I would actually put Gallagher as Henry before Groff. Heck, I would think that Groff would be a better Gabe with Gallagher as Henry. I would still want Meghann Fahy as Natalie, though.

These ideas are hilarious, especially picturing the big heads on the doors.
Stage cast:
Diana: Idina Menzel (no one ever said she wasn't a daring actress, what with her taking a dump onstage during Wild Party. And her voice has certainly seen better days- which is why I chose her! I think that slightly ravaged, worn-down sound suits the character.)
Dan: Adam Pascal
Gabe: Aaron Tveit
Natalie: Krysta Rodriguez
Henry: Wesley Taylor
Drs. Madden/Fine: Neil Patrick Harris
Film cast: this is my mixture of hopes and "they wouldn't be too bad"
Diana: Toni Colette
Dan: Robert Sean Leonard
Gabe: Either some unknown or the Zefron- God knows he's gonna be the studio's first choice. Let's see if he can handle anything more substantial than High School Musical.
Natalie: Heather Morris or Ashley Tisdale (actresses of the right age range who sing on film- let's be honest, Natalie is not Hamlet in terms of requiring a virtuoso. Teen angst and belt.)
Henry: Christopher Mintz-Plaase
Dr. Fine: Michael Emerson
Dr. Madden: Jim Carrey

This show would be hard to make into a movie. How would Gabe be presented?
That conceit has been presented repeatedly on film and in movies- most notably in films like "Fight Club" and the television show "Lost." Keep in mind that the show bounces back and forth between comedy, drama and psychological horror, so the film might not be as naturalistic as the play is.
Diana- Julia Munrey
Dan- Norbert Leo
Gabe-Bobby Steggert (am I alone on this?)
Natalie- Alex Socha
Henry- OPRAH
Doctors-Will Chase

I'm glad someone else said Andrea McArdle as Diana. I'd LOVE to hear that.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Emily Skinner.
I mentioned Judy Kuhn in another thread. I also think Martha Plimpton could be brilliant (and I do think she could sing it).
Diana: Alice Ripley
Dan: Alice Ripley

Natalie: Alice Ripley
Henry: Alice Ripley
Doctor Fine/Madden: Alice Ripley

My friend and I are desperate to see Phoebe Strole try out Natalie. Oh...hey meggilyweggily :)

i pretty much would give my right arm to see Will Chase as Dan. as for the rest of the cast... I really wouldn't care. LOL.
Diana: Alice Ripley
Natalie: Krysta Rodriguez
Henry: I have to second the Wesley Taylor (I think that would be adorable)
Dr. Madden: Norbert Leo Butz
Gabe: Um.... i'm gonna get crucified for this, but Harley Jay.

I said this before (a while ago), but I'm not sure anyone agreed with me, but I think Helen Sjoholm would make a fantastic Diana. If you don't know her, she's the woman who sang the role of Kristina at the Carnegie Hall concert last year. I'm convinced she could both sing and act the part, and she can certainly pack emotion into a song. Only thing is, she's probably not well known enough on Broadway to sell tickets. Isn't it sad that people are often drawn by a name rather than by the value of an outstanding performance? That's the slightly worrying thing about theater. I'm from London and it's the same thing over here in the West End. There are many fantastic performances (from lesser known performers)that people don't see because other shows have a 'named star' in them (but often, the 'star's' performance is really not that outstanding).
Anyway, my vote for Diana is for Helen Sjoholm. Anyone ?
While she's certainly as unorthodox a choice as possible, I feel like Daphne Rubin-Vega would work weirdly well as Diana.
I've had the same thought about Daphne before. I don't know if I've ever put it in a post but I've always thought she'd be perfect in the part. She's definitely got the acting chops for it and there are only a couple of songs that I just CAN'T hear her singing.

Lisa Brescia (who has a very similar voice to Jessica Phillips) would also be a sterling Diana.
Toni Collette as Diana! I would literally pay ANYTHING to see that live. Julia Murney would be a dream as well.

This, 100%. I've also noticed the similarity in their voices. It's pretty striking actually.

What do you mean, how would he be presented? As a character on the screen. Look at Bruce Willis The Sixth Sense. This show would very easily translate into a movie, more so than most shows on Broadway. Whether the obsessive Alice Ripley fans would like it is another issue entirely, but it would work on screen.
