Movie Cast:
Dianna: Melora Hardin (Jan from THe Ofiice, but is also an accomplished musical theatre actress and has starred in various productions like Les Miserables. Not to mention that if she cut her hair she would look the part)
Dan: John Travolta (I know he's been in so many musicals, but he's the film equivalent of Brian D'Arcy James)
Natalie: Allie Trimm
Henry: Skylar Austin
Gabe: Graham Phillips
Doctors: Neil Patrick Harris/Anthony Rapp as either, although Robert Downy Jr. would be nice.

MOVIE CAST
Dianna: Sara Ramirez...come one...no one else would die to see this?
Dan: Hugh Jackman OR Patrick Wilson :)
Natalie: Victoria Justice (girls got pipes..and can act)
Henry: Avan Jogia (I'm watching Victorius right now...that explains that haha)
Gabe: Logan Henderson (his voice is great...not sure about acting though...I've only seen him on BTR...and thats not great to judge by)
Doctors: I agree with LogJamINC on this one
Simply put...I would actually prefer the movie to have a "big name" cast because it would draw a large audience and therefore open them up to this amazing musical. Of course...they would have to be great in the roles too...but to rule them out just cuz their "big names" is kinda stupid
For the stage though...
Dianna: Julia Murney
Dan:Jason Robert Brown (his voice is really nice and unique)
Natalie: Carla Stickler (she is u/s for Elphaba on first tour)
Henry: Avan Jogia (I think it's cuz he looks the part I like him alot haha)
Gabe: Kyle Dean Massey (he was perfect I think)
Doctors: Hmm...this part does not really interest me that much so anyone who can sing and act it well are fine by me haha

Julia Murney and Emily Skinner are the two names that come to mind instantly for Diana. I'm intrigued by the mention of Martha Plimpton, as well; I'd never really imagined her, but she definitely has the raw energy to pull it off.
If he could tamper down his schtick. Gregory Jbara could be a very endearing Dan. I'd like to see Alexandra Socha play Natalie. Matt Doyle can sing and act the hell out of Gabe. And in the back of my mind, I've always thought of luxury-casting Norm Lewis as the doctors.

I think every single potential movie-musical role for a female in her late teens to early/mid twenty's should be played by Lea Michele. Therefore guess who should TOTALLY play natalie in a potential film.

As far as the stage show, I would have loved to see Andrea McArdle as Diana, Lewis Cleale or Martin Moran as Dan.
As far as the movie goes, Madonna will be playing Diana. She has international marketing appeal and her voice could be sweetened in the studio easy enough to punch it up to help her sing the rock score. Its lovely to throw out all these no-names for the film version, but there are very few women who would sell the film overseas would could do well with the score. I think Diana would need to be played by a pop star. Maybe Pink could handle it-I think she'd be a great Diana.

Oh, I LOVE the ideas of both Heidi Blickenstaff or Pink playing Diana.

Dan - Hugh Jackman (obviously)
Diana - Idina Menzel (Her name is big enough now, and she could sing the sh!t out of it
Natalie - Vanessa Hudgens (Big name for younger audiences)
Gabe - Nick Jonas (Poster Boy for perfection, duh!)
Henry - Josh Hutcherson (not sure if he can sing, but Henry doesn't sing much anyway, plus I'm sure the "Hey" songs would be spoken, not sung in the movie)
Dr. Madden - Neil Patrick Harris (Would be a fun throw-back to Doogie Howser... and well, he's perfect)
Dr Fine - Maybe throw in a touch of comic relief and have someone like Jack Black make a cameo.
