Posted: 5/18/09 at 2:17pmI agree, poor Dolce...even though he has a pretty decent career going it seems. But I honestly think it was merely that the Producers didn't even think there was a chance of the Michaels being nominated.

Posted: 5/18/09 at 2:23pmI'm not really sure how it worked out that the nominators all saw Bologna's performance and not Dolce's...

Yeah, I really don't think the producers even thought that David/Frank would be even considered for a nomination. They were just following the London and Sydney productions.

They should have covered their behinds though... it is pretty glaring.

Posted: 5/18/09 at 8:20pmI saw Bologna and he was great. Deserves it.

Posted: 5/18/09 at 8:40pmI agree completely. While I think Frank is incredibly talented, every time I see him I feel like he's going over the top - even getting pretty 'hammy'. I mentioned it once before - David seems to be playing the role of 'Michael' in BILLY ELLIOT, while Frank is playing 'FRANK!' at the Palace.

I have no problem with the way the Billy's are nominated...but I do believe that "fair is fair" and that they both should have been nominated.
I kinda hope that Bologna doesn't get it, so that Dolce doesn't go his whole life know that he SHOULD have been a Tony Award Winner.

Posted: 5/18/09 at 11:11pmI saw both Frank and David and BOTH deserve the nom. What a crock of bullsh*t. Poor kid.

WITHOUT, they didn't, but if the Producers didn't submit him, only the Opening Night Performer is eligible,
but only some of the voters will actually see Bologna so his chance of winning is lowered, it's a mess.
Is Bologna pronounced like the sandwich meat or Joe Bologna?

Or (Curtain), they could possibly see Dolce and vote for Bologna because of the role...probably won't happen but...if voters saw the show BEFORE nominations came out and they didn't see Bologna and want to vote the role, then that could happen.

Posted: 5/19/09 at 12:04amDidn't the Michael(s) in Melbourne win some kind of award?.. Either way, I feel horrible for Frank. I've seen him 3 times in the role and he is just hilarious and so nice off stage as well.

So, I mean not that Bologna will win, but what are they going to do about Bologna and Dolce's performance schedule with the Tony nominators? How can they vote for Bologna if they see Dolce?
Or does this tie into their whole "you can see the show three times if you WANT but you only have to see it once" thing?
