My heart sank when I saw the news. Theatre would not be the same without him. May his soul rest in peace.

I have to watch "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" at least once a year. So glad it's on Blu-ray now.
It. Is. A. Masterpiece.

Ya think they will dim the lights for him?

"A writer who happens to be gay or lesbian must be able to transcend self. I am not a gay writer. I am a writer who happens to be gay." - RIP Edward Albee.

Fun fact: Before Albee's big break in Germany with THE ZOO STORY, he dated a musician named Bill Flanagan - who was friends with Charles Strouse. The three would hang out and drink together, and Albee showed Strouse THE ZOO STORY, when it was still handwritten.
Strouse: "...years later, when I first saw WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? I couldn't help but notice that the dialogue sounded very much like the way all of us had talked back in the days when we all hung out and drank in Bill's apartment on Christopher Street."

Rest in peace to an absolutely incredibly playwright.
They've got to dim the lights for him - it's an absolute no brainer.

I was at the theater tonight and when the lights came up for intermission, word spread through the theater immediately. It was sad but also nice to learn this heartbreaking news with a thousand other people feeling exactly the way I did at that moment.

Such a sad loss. I'm watching Virginia Woolf tonight in his memory (The film version, though excellent, is the only version I have. Sad to say I've never seen the original stage edition).
Rest in peace.

The original cast was recorded in what was an experiment in using the new LP format at the time (it never became a thing).
It's astounding and available on iTunes (and I assume Amazon)

Will never be replaced. Never. I wonder how far along he got with Edward Albee's Laying an Egg ? Signature promised it a few years ago.
My favorite Albees:
Who's Afraid...
Lady from Dubuque...
The Goat...
Delicate Balance.
Yours?

So mad I missed the most recent revival of Woolf. Anyone have thoughts on who they would like to see in a future revival?
