I feel like I'm the only person who liked her performance in DC.

I love Elaine Paige but unfortunately did not care for her rendition of "I'm Still Here" in DC.
I liked her too, Phyllis.

She looked great onstage, Botox or not.
Just went to look for tickets and looked in the rear mezz. Theatermania has them for 47.00 and the Marquis has them at 55.00. Wonder if I would get them for 47 if I walk up to the box office?
Question: Why have the posts about the work she's had done all been deleted??
Excellent news. So excited!

How odd. That makes me comment look like I'm the one suggesting she had Botox, which I am not!
I liked her too--very much so.
We may be the only four, but all four of us know the show backward and forward, and none us is a pushover.
I'm glad she was there and I'm glad she'll still be here.

Is that $47 with a discount code?
Are there discount codes some place?

I have to admit I thought she was very forgettable in the show ... very little presence or charisma, and I thought she phrased "I'm Still Here" very strangely, as if she didn't trust the music or lyrics.
But it's a terrific production overall .... not perfect, but pretty damn terrific.
The 47.00 was full price. After poking around, it looks the the price is different on different days. I haven't found a discount code yet.
I liked her, and "I'm Still Here" was a standout, but Jan Maxwell's "Could I Leave You?" still burns in my mind.
She just doesn't strike me as a Carlotta, but I am eager to be proven wrong.
I thought she looked like an Ewok in a Lulu wig, sounded like crap, didn't have a character, was made-up and dressed like a 14th Street tranny; also, (the night I saw it) she didn't bother to do "Who's That Woman" and gave one of her scenes to Florence Lacey.
All things considered, I think a moderately talented suburban high school senior would be just as good.
I'm no fan and I thought she was great fun as Carlotta. Her I'm Still Here does need work though - too much backphrasing, variable diction, too snarly towards the end etc.
Maybe someone should send her this link:

Does she go for the high note at the end?
It's only a B natural, but, yes, she sings it in the original keys. The B natural is not as clear as Decarlo's (Paige has a foggy, veiled tone), but it is loud. She has to hit it late, in order to get the breath, but then she adds a tacky fermata to show that, oh my stars! - she can hold it longer than written. Bad taste.
I don't know what you mean by your question - although I've heard the song done in other keys, I've never heard anyone take a different final note.

Cleo Laine grabs a high note at the end when she sings it on her Sondheim album.
Oh, right, Cleo - when did she ever not go for the stratosphere? When I saw her in a tour of A Little Night Music, she hit a high C at the end of "The Glamorous Life" (alone on stage, which was also rather unusual).
newintown, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but you used a term that some people in the transgender community consider to be on a par with other (unfortunately) familiar words that are used as strong pejoratives against various groups. I don't for a second think your use of the word comes from any animus against transgender people, and I know that not everyone agrees that it carries such a heavy negative connotation, but a few of my transgender friends are deeply offended by it.
