In order to be "literally perfect" for the role, she would have to be an actual London born 19th century cockney flower girl named Eliza Doolittle.
People seem to not understand the meaning of the word literal.
I think another Laura- Michelle Kelly seems like a possibility.
^ Bart did just work with her on the THE KING AND I tour.
I'm still pulling for Denee Benton

Benanti is not doing this, she is too old.
They are looking for a new face not a Broadway 'name'. Higgins will be the star casting.
That's my hope.

If it's not a "Broadway" name then Jordan clues wouldn't make sense. I think we are just gonna have to wait and see unfortunately. I hope it's soon so we can stop going crazy here

Yeah we've been discussing that pupscotch. Robbie said it isn't her though and if anyone on this board would know it'd be him.
She just tweeted that the announcement is not about MFL.
Indeed, Laura confirms this upcoming announcement is not My Fair Lady.

The name I heard is still on the running but now I'm wondering if she's an alternate or understudy..

This is who I've been hoping for all along.
It's probably Laura Michelle Kelly, which I guess some people will find exciting...

I would not be one of those people. Lovely singer, actress, and person, but totally unexciting for this production.
It's probably going to be Kelly and her accent from the Dick Van Dyke School of Cockney Accents.
I was hoping to see someone that hadn't played the part before. I'd be a little disappointed if we ended up with her.

Well I'm pretty disappointed. Not gonna lie
Poor Benanti, she must be devastated. I guess a starring role in a Steve Martin's play is a solid consolation prize though.

From what I hear Benanti and Sher don't get along so well so she's probably known from day one it wouldn't be her. She said pretty much straight away 'I think they'll be going in another direction'.

I would love it to be Laura Michelle Kelly. She was great performing an abridged version at 54 Below and with direction from Sher, I think she could find a wonderful performance and play both sides of Eliza beautifully.

I'd love to see Laura Michelle Kelly. Honestly what if it's Kelli? I'd be extremely happy with that. Also unexpected idea what about Carmen Cusack? She's got a killer soprano and she's worked with Sher before on the national tour of South Pacific. It would also fit in with the clue Jordan gave about being nominated for a Tony within the last five years.
Not saying that you're uninformed, but bad blood between Benanti and Sher would be odd. She joined WOMEN ON THE VERGE on a direct offer from Sher.

^Which is where and when I believe the tension was formed. Just what I've heard.
