Didn't Stacie Morgan Lewis cover Elphaba on Broadway and play Glinda in Chicago?
Yes, after hearing Megan Hilty sing Fly into the Future I think she could play Elphaba...but I don;t know if she would be as strong as others...but she is capable.
Stacie Morgain Lewis covered Glinda and Nessarose on Broadway, not Elphaba.
I've heard in an interview (it may have been on playbill.com...) with Eden Espinosa that she has a soprano range that she has yet to utilize on Broadway...
Perhaps she has the range for Glinda... cuz she OBVIOUSLY can bring down the house as Elphaba!

I believe when the tour swing Chelsea Krombach was auditioning for the show, she sang for Glinda as well as Elphaba at her callback. Those who have seen her know that she could do both at the drop of a hat.
Jennifer Laura Thompson stated in an interview shortly after replacing Chenoweth that she was oroginally seen for Elphie, not Glinda.

speaking of Stacie, I was listening to a clip of her and her vibrato is OUT OF CONTROL. My friend used the expression "Laura Benanti times 20!". Don't get me wrong--Laura's voice is great. Stacie's isn't bad, but the vibrato almost killed me.

I seem to recal that Jenna Leigh Green went in to audition for Glinda and was pushed more on the Elphaba track...sadly she won't be Elphaba again.
i don't see why there isn't an elphab/ glinda cover i mean hell if they can have one guy understudy for elphaba's father, fiyero, and dillamond i think this can't be much more of a stretch
Maybe Laura Bell - if only she didn't piss them off (or push herself too hard in Blonde....

There is someone in the second cast (or used to be in the second cast) of the German production who went from Glinda to Elphaba... I'm drawing a blank on the name.

cheno is a belter, so she might be able to do it
WishingOnlyWounds-Hmm, in Germany? I'm familiar with the German production very much. Roberta Valentini is one of the standbys for Elphaba, Sabrina Weckerlin is an Elphaba U/S, and then for Glinda it's just Jana Stelley U/S and Valerie Link as standby and neither have done opposite parts.
I could TOTALLY see Kerry Ellis playing Glinda, by the way.
I could see Marcie Dodd playing either role.

Christina DeCicco also went in (and got callbacks) for Elphaba originally then they brought her in for Glinda. She's one of the only ones I can actually see making the switch.
"They aren't going to implement a track where one girl has to learn two roles of such magnitude."
Well, I think the original post was asking more about an actor being capable of playing both roles, not actually implementing a track where one person has to learn two different roles.

Shoshana Bean can sing both, and Carmen Cusack played Christine in Phantom, so I assume she can too.
I could see Shoshana being Glinda...if she didn't riff every two seconds.
I'm going to stay clear of this conversation but here is something fun for you all to watch while you discuss...

I had seen that before. Before I saw it I never knew that Shoshana had that soprano range. I think that she could do it. I mean considering that Wicked loves recycling the cast they might bring someone back who played Glinda to come back and play Elphaba and vise versa.
Christina Decicco, who replaced Megan Hilty on tour, originally went in to audition for Elphaba.
Victoria Matlock (former tour Elphaba) originally auditioned for Glinda.

Hahahaha no.
I don't see Sho as Glinda physically.
So who do you think will be first to do it on Broadway - if anyone does it at all?
Winston - since you're back stick the n in Glida!
I think Carmen and Kendra can definitely switch roles!
