Elphaba and Glida reversal

Posted: 10/23/08 at 12:51pmSorry to take this to London, but vocally Alexia Khadime (current Elphaba) has the right voice to play Galinda, I mean she was in Lion King for 5 years and still has that disney feel to her voice, however, she would never get cast as she is black, and as is being discussed on the wicked open call page, Galinda HAS to be caucasian!

"Galinda HAS to be caucasian! "
i dissagree...i saw a video on "that website" of where a radio host went backstage at Wicked...L.a. and one of the ensamble members was in the bubble dress, with the crown. She was a lighter color, but not caucasian, and i thought she looked beautiful in it.

According to Kendra Kassebaum herself, she will be taking over the role of Elphaba in the West End production of Wicked. Youtube links are here:

I am so excited that someone is actually making the switch from Glinda to Elphaba. I also think that Megan Hilty would have made a great Elphaba.

Kerry Ellis is a fantastic belter, but her voice is raw and powerful...totally not in Glinda's range.
I feel you're basing that assumption on the fact Kerry is beautiful and blonde, rather than anything else.
Shoshana Bean's range is very Glinda, however she likes to keep her sound raw and passionate - which wouldn't really go with the Glinda part. She's also doesn't have the Glinda 'look', she's very much an Elphaba through and through.
p.s We're not sure if we're actually getting Kendra at all, let alone in the role as Elphaba! Don't get your hopes up, I'm not.
(although I would like it a great deal...)

Posted: 11/10/08 at 6:53pmSabrina Weckerlin was Glinda opposite Pia Douwes in the early German promo stuff... now she's the Elphaba stand-by. I still can't wrap my head around that: when I hear her name I think Glinda!

For someone as "cultured" as yourself, you should see different shows rather than the same one 15 times.

Posted: 11/10/08 at 8:56pmJane Krakowski????? I don't see it (or hear it) for either role! Ok she has a great look for either role so maybe I do "see it" but her range is pretty limited isn't it???

Posted: 11/11/08 at 12:08amShoshana would make an excellent Glinda her vocal range is higher than Megans.. (not to mention her acting ability, but I won't mention that...) *prepares to be attacked by Megan lovers*
