At one point, it was announced that Emma Thompson was being considered to write the Annie movie. Does anyone know why that didn't happen? Is there an Annie script cooling in Emma's safe deposit box?
If you don't know, feel free to make up a reason.
She started the script, but one night some goblins came to take it away to the magical faraway land and it was never heard from again.

I think once Will Gluck went all Barbra Streisand on the production (how many credits does he get?) Emma was as good as yesterday's tea biscuits.
I believe it was he who sent the goblins, the bounder.

In my heart of hearts, I believe that once Emma mailed the finished script, Meryl Streep intercepted it and changed all the references from "Little Orphan Annie" to "Little Orphan's Fanny". Nobody is getting in the way of Meryl's Musical Oscar. Nobody!
Meryl only uses her goblins for good. How dare you.

Meryl's goblins must have been asleep when she nearly poked out Philip Seymour Hoffman's eye with that crucifix in Doubt.

I'm actually very curious to see what her version was like...
It probably would've been better than the final version we got now. Thompson is a good writer.

Some leaked lyrics:
They offered us Mitt Romney and Obama
We paid attention and we chose
Not only did we pay attention
We paid through the nose.
In ev'ry house he said insurance
But Mr Obama he did lie
Not only don't we have insurance
His wife stole our pie!
I actually have in my collection of screenplay's Emma Thompson's original draft for the film that was revised by Aline Brosh McKenna. Some interesting things in it.
If anyone would like to read it, you can PM me. The script is dated October 19, 2012.
