Scott Rudin regularly did it. It highly burnished his stature as a producer.

"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

Plus, expensive or not expensive, it's potentially a tax deduction if it flops. Gotta love any legal way to screw the IRS.

Or to restate what you said - gotta love any legal way to give more to help the rich by taking from the poor and middle class. The tax system is set up to help the rich.

Thinking about Piazza made me consider that Gardens of Anuncia could be a similar enjoyable mature musical if its narrative was buttressed with a better book.

Broadway Flash said: "Didn’t ruthie miles say they were looking for a theatre?"

1. That doesn't mean it's the truth. I knew a production of The Wizard of Oz that "wanted to find a theater to transfer in" to Broadway.

2. "Looking for a theater" is a tactic usually to drum up interest and get investors on the line.

3. I highly doubted we have Wine & Roses on Broadway the same time at Piazza.
