I thought this show was fantastic for several reasons.

1) Sheri Rene Scott's singing was spectacular and always fit the song style and lyric she was singing, very nuanced.

2) She was totally believable.

3) The content and subject matter is rarely explored yet very common - for people to have conflicts between show biz and other career choices based on spiritual beliefs.

4) It was about her INNER journey rather than the typical OUTER journey (i.e. - how I got to be a broadway star).

5) The supporting singers were amazing as were the production values.

I hope this show has continued life. It was brilliant.

I couldn't agree more. It really was the best new musical of the season.

I loved this show. It was certainly one of my favorite new musicals of the year.

I hope it transfers.

"2) She was totally believable."
Well, she was playing herself after all! :P

I agree though and would love to see this transfer.

I do want this show to have a life beyond its Second Stage run. But, I do think that this show might be better in a commercial or another limited Off Broadway run in another theatre rather then Broadway itself.

I say this because ask a given tourist who Sheri Renee Scott is and they wouldn't be able to tell you. The show is basically a one woman musical staring someome that is known by those who are theatre fans (like us). As much as I would love to see it transfer I just don't think it has the ability to sell tickets considering that the person staring in it is someone that most people don't know who the hell she is.

I loved the show very much. And, I would like to be proven wrong.

I don't know. twice I took a gang of non theater going friends, only telling them that this was one of my favorite broadway performers and while a small percentage of jokes went over them, they loved the show and were captivated with Sherie before the end of the first number. I pray there are producers out there willing to take the chance. Even if it's a limited run on Broadway. but almost more so, I hope we get a cast recording.

I really loved this show. Not sure if I can picture it on Broadway, but I would love to see it have a run someplace.

I really really love this show and would love for it to have a longer life-the only ON BROADWAY theater I could see it in would be the Helen Hayes or MAYBE the Booth (but I would hate to see n2n close). I can totally see this playing at another off-broadway venue and I think that this show is extremely entertaining and she (Sherie Rene Scott) deserves to be noticed as both an actress, singer, and writer.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I like to think that because Sh-k-boom has yet to announce a cast recording it means they are waiting for the show's next showing!

She was NOT actually playing herself; she was playing a character based upon herself.

It was definitely one of my favorites. :) I related a little too much to some parts of it, but I LOVED it.

A fun little bonus... I was there the night Idina and Taye saw it and had a perfect view of them during the youtube sequence. (I'd seen the show before, so I watched them a little.) Very funny. They were cracking up.

haha Jordan, that is a cute story. My fun little Everyday Rapture story: I was sitting right next to Eamon Foley and got really excited when Sherie started walking my way... only to not get picked re: Everyday Rapture

Yeah, I saw it. Didn't do much for me. I thought the conceit of her playing "Sherie Rene Scott" and that the stories may or may not be true wasn't clear enough. I also think her voice is to die for, so, if anything, it was very much worth it for that.

The show would be much better off transferring to another off-Broadway house. Broadway would be a financial disaster.

New World Stages is the ideal venue for this show.

CycoSpAz2, I had an identical experience, only I realized that she would be comming to the seat in the middle of the performance-I then had tried to beg my friend (during the applause right before) to let me sit on the aisle but she didn't hear me so I just got a nice view of Sherie Rene Scott's arm.

I think the show could transfer if it did a shorter run (6 weeks or so) in one of the smaller theaters.

This was one of the best shows I have seen all year. It was thoroughly entertaining. I would love to see this have another life. I agree that it wouldn't cut it on Broadway though. It's not a show that would attract the average tourist as there is no name recognition. It would be ideal for a commercial run at New World Stages. Let's keep our fingers crossed for that as well as a cast recording.

I agree, it was one of the best shows I saw all year and set a new standard for this type of show. Everyday Rapture was full of surprises and I was constantly amazed by the amount and variety of talent Sherie Rene Scott displayed acting, singing, dancing. The production was first-class all the way and I was thrilled and delighted to have been moved and entertained by such a beautiful show.

RE wishing only wounds, it's actually not easy to play yourself. First you have to know who "you" are and for many this self knowledge hasn't happened. Then you have to be comfortable being yourself in front of other people. For many actors, part of the appeal of being in theater is NOT having to be yourself.

Sherie is most definitely comfortable in her own skin and brings so much of herself to her projects. If anything, I see her having trouble keeping her identity out of her characters. That is why I think she flourishes in her own projects. When I saw Little Mermaid, I was seeing Sherie, not Ursula (not that I'm complaining). I think it could have a VERY healthy and long run at New World Stages. Perfect venue.

Betty, I think you're so right. And I think that's the mark of a great performer. Yes, they must embody the character but moreso than anything, we have to be watching the actor. Sincerity goes a long way. The best actors can play any role and people see them again and again not because of the role but because of what they brought of themselves to the role.
