I recently saw the Evita US Tour and thought Kathy Voytko did a wonderful job with the role of Eva Peron.

York, Collette and Ripley are all worthy choices.
Do you think Sarah Uriatre Berry could fly in the role? Just a thought.

I saw annelises van der pool (of Thats So Raven Fame) as evita. She was 16. Youngest person to ever play the role in a professional production. She was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Alice isnt available, give it to a girl who's stuck as a second banana on a disney sitcom.
What about Jennifer Laura Thompson? I'd love Caren Lyn to do it again.
I rececntly saw Lisa Brescia and loved her. I wouldn't mind seeing her in a revival. ^_~
Susan Egan as Evita... your kidding right? KATHY VOYTKO all the way! She's vocally AMAZING!! Hands down no question!
I'd like to see Janine LaManna headline a revival. She played the role in the early 90's, and I would imagine she is fabolous in it. She is not a name to draw in ticket sales, but she has the talent to headline the show as Eva.

Jai Rodriguez as Che
Tom Wopat as Juan Peron
Jason Danieley as Magaldi

Denise Van Outen as Eva? She can't sing the score in the original key. And lowering the key for theatre... NOOOOO! They already butchered Tell Me On A Sunday for her. Isn't that enough. Plus I saw her play Roxie in London's CHICAGO and the lady just cannot act one bit!!
As for the West End, Joanna Riding would be perfect choice! She can sing and she can act!
For Broadway, I haven't heard Toni Collette sing, so... But Idina Menzel or Sherie Rene Scott...!
If Jai played Che -- you'd at least know why he was following Eva around. To try on all her wigs.
Are we really doing this thread again? This has been going on for so long that I believe we started this on the old Broadway.com message board. And again, I'll say, there is only ONE person that should do this role and that is ORFEH. Right age, right look, right intensity and perfect absurdly high belt. I love Scott for the role as well, except she simply does not have the dark edge required. Let's remember, I was lucky enough to have seen Lupone, so I do have a great base of reference. And I have to agree, York is not remotely someone you would consider a box office draw.

I'd love to see Judy Kuhn as "Evita". She hasn't been on Broadway in a long time, and with her vocal chops, she'd be ideal. She's going to be in a regional production of "The Three Sisters".
or, Laurie Wells, a 29-year old with a voice that is comparable to Kuhn's.
judy kuhn?!!!
idina menzel?!!!
sara ramirez?!!!
no offense but what are you people smoking?
orfeh is undoubtedly so much more suited for the role than those three women rolled into one...
There are definite plans for an EVITA revival with Larry Fuller at the helm. I believe the plans are (now) for them to recreate Prince's direction, and I also believe that the cast - especially the ensemble - will be almost completely different from that of the recent tour cast.
As far as Eva, Kathy Votkyo (sp?) was supposedly excellent, but I would rather see Toni Collette or Sara Ramirez do the part.
Jai as Che? God help us.
Raul Esparza as Che and Mark Kudisch for Juan Peron
Thank you Marquise. I can't imagine how the Orfeh suggestion isn't just blatantly obvious to everyone. There's no question or doubt in my mind that she's the one and only choice. The only person who could do it better is Lupone *if* miracles happened and she found a time machine that could take her back to her 30's, otherwise, it's Orfeh all the way.
Orfeh as Eva...
Maybe Janine LaManna could do matinee's or Standby.
Hell! I'd be happy if Janine even got standby! That woman can sinnnggg. I seriously hope they consider her.
