FAT HAM wins 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama; finalists are

As I posted in the other thread: didn't realize that Fat Ham had a digital production that qualified it. It starts at the Public THIS WEEK (how's that for timing? The Public is about to have a big rush of ticket sales I'm sure). Really excited to see it!
And congrats to the finalists! I didn't personally care for Selling Kabul, but I did really enjoy Sweatshop Overlord.

I'm 0 for 3 in seeing this year's finalists/winner, but looking forward to catching FAT HAM in its run at the Public.

I was gonna wait to get tickets through rush at the Public, but I guess I might as well buy them now. An unexpected win, but I'm even more excited to see it now!

Congratulations to James Ijames and The Public!
I still can't help but feel irked that The Hot Wing King still hasn't been published for the general public. How long will we have to be able to read it and Fat Ham?

You're not the only one that's irked.
I wonder what's taking so long to publish "The Hot Wing King"?
It won the freaking Pulitzer! Are they worried people won't buy it?

Is this spoken in modern English or shakespearean?

I'm so bummed I waited and now the run is sold out. I mean, totally predictable! So, mad at myself, really.

In addition to returns, the Public normally releases seats on a regular basis throughout the run of a show. You just have to be vigilant about checking, although I suspect that the run will be extended.

Modern English

Here's the trailer for last year's streaming production:

I saw this last night.
It's an exciting show, no doubt, but honestly one of my least favorite Pulitzer winners. It had bite, but I oddly didn't leave the theater wanting to dissect it more. Tight, exceptional production, though. The end was so surprising and exuberant!
And I didn't know the story of Hamlet going in. (I'm shamefully not a Shakespeare proponent. Fight me. lol) Maybe if I did, I would've found myself more involved?
Now, I'm actually more curious to see the filmed version, since that is the production that actually won the Pulitzer.

Thanks for the tip! It does seem like the theatre released a bunch more seats and continues to throughout the day. Grabbed a pair for Friday.

Could this work in a bigger venue?

Haven't seen it, so can't answer that. But, if you are wondering if it could transfer, they likely would gave to recast the lead, as Marcel Spears is a regular on the CBS sitcom The Neighborhood. He will probably be heavily featured next season, as this season ended with his character getting engaged to his character's girlfriend.

I'm not sure it would work in a larger venue. I mean, they could stage it in a larger venue, but it constantly breaks the fourth wall, and part of why it works is the intimate venue. It's also a play that really benefits from the setup of having the action happen right in the center of the audience. They even have the first row set up on the floor with random camp/lounge/plastic chairs to feed into the cookout/ barbecue feel.
At one point in my show, somebody accidentally stepped on a Capri Sun, and it squirted all over somebody in the front row. The whole cast broke after that, and it was hilarious.
