"A girl named Heather will be making her Broadway debut as Helen"
Where have you heard this razzledazzle? Have they announced it? Broadway debut is pretty cool. Especially for that role. Surprising, but cool. Gives all of us "no names" some hope hah.

Yes, the Helen is an unknown, from what the rumor mill has told me. Which is a shame, since Ashlie Atkinson is quite talented and was quite good in the original production.
Which makes me wonder: what's the reasoning for a revival of FAT PIG? Yes, it's one of LaBute's best(and I've heard he's made substantial revisions), but what's the logic of producing it on Broadway? REASONS TO BE PRETTY is a far better play and that didn't do very well.

Wasn't she supposedly doing reasons to be pretty in London?
I wonder if the Tonys will consider this a new play?
I guess it depends on the revisions made.
I thought Ashton Kutcher was doing this? Did I make that up?
And Ljay, I was just saying that's a very specific combination to find. If you attend any open call in the cit you'll find that there aren't many plus-size girls.

??????? I think you've got the wrong person.
I believe that's meant for me. And I'm sorry, I still don't think "plus-size girl" and "able to act" is a "very specifiC combination" that's hard to find. Maybe not at an open call for the chorus for a big musical with lots of dancing. But A) how many open calls for straight plays have you been to and B) go to any acting school in the country and I'm sure you'll find plenty of plus-size girls.
A) A good bit. Didn't see any.
B) I attended one. We had one. And where is she now? Not doing anything. Just because there are a ton all over the country doesn't mean they are in NYC and attending this open call.
I'm not saying it's IMPOSSIBLE, but I'm just saying it's a very SPECIFIC part. It's not like saying "Helen. 20s. Girl. Likeable."
Yah, you're right. Those qualifications are already really tough to begin with. A girl in her twenties who doesn't have a completely awful personality is really hard to find. Add a few pounds on to her and you're basically asking for a miracle to find her.
Ella Smith was very good in the London Run in 2008 (and someone seems to have added that she might be doing it on B'way to her Wikipedia page - would she count as an unknown?)
And good actresses who aren't a size 10 aren't exactly hard to come by imho.

Julia Stiles, Dane Cook and Josh Hamilton.
Cook is semi-repulsive, Stiles is stiff, and Hamilton just plain can't act. Sounds great.

That's actually one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Josh was incredible in Coast of Utopia, and I thought he was one of the best parts of Lie of the Mind. I am the most excited for him in Fat Pig (and I can't wait to see him in Three Sisters).

Yeah, with the exception of Hamilton, this casting does absolutely nothing for me. Considering that watching Stiles is like watching paint dry.
Agreed. One of my favorite plays, but this isn't that exciting. And I'm going to guess that the design elements are pretty lackluster as well.
bjh2114, I base my judgment of Hamilton on two of the most wretched performances I have ever seen on a professional stage in the Bridge Project's productions of The Cherry Orchard and The Winter's Tale a couple of years ago. Maybe he was having two off nights - but I doubt it.
I didn't see him in those, though he did receive positive notices for The Cherry Orchard, which did not receive positive notices as a production. His notices for Winter's Tale were neither good nor bad. They all seem to be pretty ambivalent. So my guess is that two off nights are precisely what you saw. Either that or I saw four "on nights" between the 3 parts of Utopia and Lie of the Mind. That seems more unlikely to me.
After Stiles assassinated OLEANNA, I'm a little concerned. And I don't think I can overcome my hatred of Dane Cook.

I love Julia Stiles and think she's a wonderful actress, but I get why some people might not be into her. As for Dane, when you say he's "semi-repulsive"- well that's a spot on description of the character carter. I happen to think some of his stuff is really funny- not all of it- but a lot of it. I think people can say what they want about him, but it can't be said that he's not perfect for that role. I don't know what to say about the Josh Hamilton being a bad actor thing. That one made me laugh out loud. He's one of the best around. I am excited about this production.
Stiles was fine in OLEANNA. It was the production that sucked.
I don't feel like she's great casting for the part. I think the part needs a Megan Fox type girl. Someone who is just a pretty bitch. I just don't see Stiles as a "mean girl."
