I feel like with some shows that open in late winter/spring, even if they are not doing well, the producers will sometimes hold out for the summer to see if the tourist season helps sales. However, if a show opens in the summer and doesn't do well, there is no point in keeping it open when the season slows down in fall, making for a quick closing (and looking like a bigger flop than shows that opened in the spring and tried to hold out a few more months, but really weren’t any more successful).

I am not seeing this for a couple of weeks and am curious to hear what every one has to say.
Remember the roasting Memphis got on this board before it opened?
The defense rests
Seeing the show tomorrow night. Hopeful that my investment in good seats (albeit discounted on Playbill) pays off!
I've yet to see a solid reason that people think that this show will flop. Other than "it's a summer show" and "not big enough names". I'm glad that a truly original musical is coming to Broadway. Sure it'll have it's flaws, but what show doesn't? The good thing about a show like this is that it can be like Chicago, in the sense that they can put in any actors in the lead roles and constantly change it for limited engagements. I'm hoping to see this next weekend and I'm sure I'll like it, as will others who go in open-mindedly and don't read bashings or anything of that matter before a show even opens.
Remember the roasting that The Anarchist got?
I rest my case as well. :)

The writers of #FirstDate should not quit their day jobs and Zachary Levi should fire his agent. Immediately.

That might have been the worst show ever! Stereotypes galore: an embarassingly offensive gay, and Jewish mother and British punks #firstdate
@DoctorWhoNY 13m
Note to #firstdate writers: a line about letting out your inner critic is an invitation for Ben Brantley to tear you apart!! @FirstDateBway
Two bad opinions of a first preview don't make or break a show. Here's another Twitter user:
@MrsSamiCriss: @FirstDateBway was the funniest show I have ever seen!!! EVERYBODY NEEDS TO SEE IT! @ZacharyLevi @KRYSTAR0DRIGUEZ ARE HILARIOUS! #firstdate
Agreed 100%
But this same user calls the Stardust diner "Epic" below that tweet.
Ha- really? I just did a search of #firstdate... didn't read anything else

Ok, that made me LOL

Ah, yes, "MrsSamiCriss". She looks all of 14 and I'm guessing she's wish-married to Darren Criss?

I will not waste my time writing a review of such a juvenile, amateur, pathetic musical. A complete waste of time and money. And simply put: awful.
Offensive jokes (especially the portrayal of gay men) and atrocious songs abound. Besides a charming Levi, the cast is bland. And Krysta Rodgriguez is so painfully below pitch that I often cringed during her numbers.
A total disaster. Run for your lives.

There is also a delightful section about facing your inner critic. And it's delightful because you can practically hear Brantley having a field day with it.
A pathetic start to our musical season.
Now now...
I'm not going to bash the girl...
She's young and enjoying any and all aspects of theater, just as we all once did.
One day, she will see a show and hate it. And it's all downhill from there...
I'll let her stay in her misguided joy as long as she needs.
No way i'm going to the Stardust though...
I had that same thought!
Not paying for it, though.

If you love a good trainwreck, please go. I actually walked up and down 48th after the show let out asking people if what I'd just seen was real. Sadly, they confirmed it.
I'm buying a rush seat tomorrow.
And I couldn't be giddier..
