No one is getting their knickers in a twist over this. Some people have said the show needs cuts not additional material. Coming here to attempt to insult people and acting like a drama queen crying “everyone is getting their knickers in a twist” is definitely ironic, though.

Anyone who has seen it - I have twice - knows it’s not an, um, efficient piece of musical theater storytelling. That first act pushes toward an hour and a half (yeah, yeah, I heard, it’s 81 minutes now; ask asses in seats: distinction not appreciated). As a friend quipped, “It takes an hour to get to ‘People!” This isn’t a multi protagonist piece, we’re not talking Les Miz or Ragtime; it’s one woman’s trajectory. And it feels slow to launch as is. Maybe it won’t matter to the die hards but the problems here are structural, not the song stack. I’d eliminate all reprises but the last critical one and slice ten minutes from each act. It couldn’t hurt. No reason for this show to push past 2 1/2 hours.

Um, just learned the entire song isn’t being performed in the show at all, as mentioned, it is being used as an “interlude” so it’ll be part of a scene transition. I believe just a line of the song is being used. Sorry for those expecting a full production number.

In this day and age of being obsessed with content, this little morsel was a perfect addition to repost something about Lea and FUNNY GIRL. If you read the article, the mention of “I’d Rather Be Blue” is very brief.
I’m surprised they didn’t use the sleeves being removed from Fanny’s final costume as extra content to post something about FUNNY GIRL.

This is a perfect example of how the media manipulates the public with click-bait headlines leading people to be lead/swayed by only the headline and not the contents of the article.
All of the articles I've read clearly stated that "I'd Rather Be Blue" was being added to the show as an interlude and those that did not bother reading the article got all "twisted" assuming it was the whole song.
People need to take a beat and read the damn article before flying off an a hissy fit.

This is never going to be a artistically satisfying revival of Funny Girl, so I say they should add any song they want to make the evening entertaining. Sure, add I’d Rather Be Blue and My Man. Hell, they should add Evergreen if that gets us through the night.
