Posted: 6/19/13 at 2:08pmEven though she was announced as the replacement, do you think there will be a Annie replacement soon? According to Lilla's Broadway.com video blog, she's been auditioning for a show (it seems like Peter Pan) where she sung "I'm Flying" and did a flying session at her auditions. Unless, a closing notice has already been discussed with the cast and crew and she's possibly trying to get her next role?

"Prince closed Little Mermaid and now she'll close Annie. She seems to always be the last person called. Sad."
Hardly sad! She is working! You know how many great actors don't work at all. Opening a show isn't everything. She has replaced a couple of times. So what? It is sad for actors who don't get called at all. Being eligible for a Tony is not everything, especially for someone who has won one and been nominated several times. Faith Prince is a wonderful performer. I'm glad she has a job.

Posted: 6/19/13 at 3:17pmNo interest in seeing her, she was horrible in Little Mermaid- couldn't sing it- Really ruined the part.

Posted: 6/19/13 at 3:34pmYea, I think the LM creators are the ones who destroyed that part. Good for Faith - I love hearing about reliable and amazing talent getting work.

Posted: 6/19/13 at 3:34pmFaith Prince was the least of the woes of Little Mermaid - how about the complete creative staff, Director, the Designers including Hair. The executives at Disney should have been fired for this complete missed opportunity - a feminist Little Mermaid - ridiculous. Faith Prince will be wonderful in this part. If you were lucky enough to see Guys and Dolls, then you attended a master class on how musical comedy is done.

Posted: 6/19/13 at 3:44pmNo one loves Faith Prince more than I - and absolutely loved working with her on Little Me and Bells are Ringing. But the only thing that could get me to see this revival is Beth Leavel, who I campaigned for HARD and who would be a brilliant Hannigan. I'm sure Faith will be her usual wonderful self, but nothing, and I mean nothing, could get me into the Palace except Beth.

Posted: 6/19/13 at 3:44pmI saw Sherie, Cecily and Heidi and thought they were wonderful in the role, But Faith just paled in comparison- Just my opinion.

I remember adoring Faith way back in Jerome Robbins' Broadway, and seeing her in Guys and Dolls is what made my husband fall in love with musical theater. Magnificent.
But then we rushed to see her when she replaced Donna Murphy in King and I, and lordy was that a mistake in casting. Hearing Adelaide's squeaks and squawks coming out of Anna Leonowen's mouth was just baffling.
At least Adelaide and Hannigan come from the same couple of boroughs and could well be sisters, so this could be a hoot, especially for anyone who never saw her spectacular Guys and Dolls performance.

Posted: 6/19/13 at 6:30pmDuh but who will? What is the point of these continual comparisons? Yes the original Miss Hannigan was brilliant. Unless you want to die and see Miss Dorothy do Annie in the hereafter get over it. You don't want to see Annie with anyone don't. However, I would not like to see all the other cast, crew and staff be out of work because no Miss Hannigan will live up to the original. How inane!

I agree and I don't understand why this was a misfire. I've seen Faith Prince in almost everything she's done. I saw her years ago in Falsettoland off-Broadway. Her "Holding to the Ground" was heartbreaking and was a show stopper. She is capable of doing dramatic work.
I saw her in King & I and she was wisecracking her lines. I almost had to stand up and yell "Faith, wtf?" The only thing I can think of is that the director didn't return to direct her and the stage manager just let her do whatever she wanted and she fell back on what she knew.
Before Guys & Dolls, she did Nick & Nora where she played the same type of wisecracking dame as Adelaide. Comic floozy is her strong point, but she has much more depth with the right situation as I witnessed in Falsettoland.

Posted: 7/4/13 at 11:49amSlightly random but I wonder if Lauren Graham was ever considered for Hannigan? A friend and I were talking about her the other day and what roles she could play on Broadway and Hannigan came up..

Posted: 7/4/13 at 12:28pmThe bigger question to me is why BELLS ARE RINGING didn't work. It should have been a perfect role for her. It was better as a concert at the Kennedy Center when she played opposite Alan Campbell, with whom she had some chemistry, but opposite Kudisch, nada. I don't believe the show was really in (wonderful) director Tina Landau's wheelhouse either. But the idea of Faith in that role sure looked good on paper.

Considering how BADLY she was in "Guys and Dolls", hopefully she will stay away from Broadway. Interesting you would bring her up in a thread about Faith Prince, an actress who was amazing in the same role that Lauren Graham sucked in.

Posted: 7/4/13 at 8:05pmI don't really blame Lauren for Guys and Dolls being a mess. She had a strong voice and lots of charisma, but she was miscast. There are a lot of roles I think she'd be better suited for than Adelaide.
