Re: Falsettos Reunion Concert

Did anyone get tickets to the second show? When I made it in past the waiting room, only companion seats were left that I couldn't/wouldn't buy. I didn't see any regular-priced seats at all at 11:15am. I know people love Falsettos, and I do too, but I didn't expect this level of interest.

The side balcony seats were $50 for the October performance and were increased to $110 for the November show.

I was able to get a balcony ticket for $110 today, kind of absurd pricing for how far back the balcony is. Tickets were snapped up almost instantly, I was refreshing for a bit and seats were popping in and out, but pretty much everything was gone by 11:20. I do hope with how much interest there was for this they consider mounting a Falsettos revival.

Most of the tickets sold yesterday during the presale.

Ugh, didn't realize there was a presale. Should've done more research! Looking forward to updates from those who managed tickets.

So this was just really really lovely. I was surprised how emotional I was just seeing them all together again. They performed the whole show basically as it was just without the set and props. Crowd was l, unsurprisingly, very enthusiastic and appreciative. I hope they capture this somehow at one of the other performances.

It was perfect!

That was an unforgettable evening, but we really need to have a conversation about audience behavior.

In the balcony, at least, the (VERY young) crowd was all but having a competition over who could scream, sniffle, sob, clap, or "awww" the loudest. An engaged and responsive audience can be integral to what makes theater so special, but this crowd was just plain self-indulgent and performative. They were also seemingly unable to sit still (checking phones, chatting, digging through their bags, taking off their shoes and putting their feet on the back of the seat in front of them!). Again, just reporting what was going on in my vicinity. I should’ve known better than to go with the cheap cheaaaaap seats.

Regardless, what was happening onstage was absolute perfection. Phenomenal performances, phenomenal direction - no notes.

What was the Jason situation? Was Anthony Rosenthal the Jason, or otherwise? The marketing had been confusing about that.

Anthony made a guest appearance, but Matthew Eby was tonight's Jason.

I was very worried about this coming in, but audience behavior around me was pretty good. Outside of one song where the young girl in front of me could not sit still and was almost flailing around and talking to her dad excitedly to the point of being distracting. But seemed to settle down. sorry you had people around you like that

Re: Falsettos Reunion Concert

The audience around me all the way upstairs was terrible also. The girl next to me was literally dancing in her seat? Bizarre.

A beautiful staging, though.

Thank you for mentioning this. I had an overall lovely time revisiting this show with this cast even if some of their voices aren't what they were 10 years ago (though Tracie Thoms and Betsy Wolfe sound exactly the same) but the audience was unbearable.

The girl behind me screech cheered after virtually every single song, there was applause almost every time someone hit a big note which then resulted in missing the next line. I understand the show got very popular from the PBS taping and I'm so glad that young people love this show and got to experience it (perhaps for the first time) live tonight. But my god was it exhausting to be surrounded by this audience.
