New York Theater - "premise" or "assumption"? I saw Cumming in March 2015 - which makes it "of 2015." Hardly worth your commenting. Or my responding either. But whatever.
I suppose I could have been more explicit on this thread about the premise of my question -- I do say on the blog post itself "Only shows that opened in 2015 qualify." But I agree with you on all three counts -- not worth my comment, nor your response, but whatever.

JCM in Hedwig would be my choice as well... But I saw him so many times in the 90s and it's my all time favorite show... I feel like I should disqualify him.
I think my favorite performance of the year was Matthew Maher in The Flick. He just made me ache.
Stephen Boyer was pretty fantastic in Hand to God, but I'm more of an emotional theatre goer, and I completely connected to Sam.
This was the year of Hamilton. My fav performances were from Leslie Odom and Renee Elise Goldsberry.
Watching the legendary Chita Rivera in "The Visit". Yes, it was unique and dark, but very enjoyable. I had an opportunity to see her artistry upclose.

How about ensembles?
I thought the entire cast of Spring Awakening is noteworthy as an ensemble.
For ensembles, I'd pick King Charles III, Cymbeline, First Daughter Suite, and Marjorie Prime. I listed individual performances from each of those shows in my previous post, but only after going "eenie, meenie, miney, mo". I really thought there was no one standout performance in any of those shows, they were all successful because of their ensemble casts.
