Megan Hilty has an unbelievable range.
I recently saw a production of "Throughly Modern Millie" and the Millie was a beautiful soprano singer, but she couldn't/didn't belt at all, and there were times that she needed to!
Anyways, I could really see the importance of having a good mix of the two.
I loved finding this thread and was ready to add my 2 cents... but all the points I was going to make and all the lovely ladies I was going to mention have been discussed

She has never been on Broadway, but the master of switching from amazing belt to powerful soprano is gospel singer Sandi Patty, who is also Kristin Chenoweth's idol (Kristin emulates Sandi in almost all of her singing).
Sandi truly has an astounding belt and high soprano--it is unbelievable.
Although never on Broadway, if you are in Indianapolis this spring--Sandi is giving a series of Broadway songs concerts. Here is the press release:

i second Kelli O'Hara
Emily Skinner, while mostly known for her unbelievable soul-shaking belt, also has a very, very pretty head voice, which you can hear on "A Christmas Carol" and several selections from her solo CD.
Alice Ripley also has quite a lovely soprano voice (when she chooses not to scream in it...) in addition to her belt.

I am blowed away by Ramona Keller's high soprano, she was in "Brooklyn" as Paradice and the top harmonies in Caroline or Change. Her placement is great! I also love Virgina Woodruff from "All Shook Up" and now she is in "The Color Purple" that girl has amazing range as well.

I think the original question has gotten skewed. BEcause many of these names shouldn't be here. People belt and sing soprano...Bernedette Peters, Alice Ripley...really? SHe's not a soprano. Singing a random F or G doesn't really count. Neither does belting high. a Soprano is a vocal timbre or color., not a range.
I think people like Kristin, Audra, Kelli, Judy Kaye, Marin Mazzie are more soprano types who have great belts
christianne noll has a great belt, and a wonderful soprano on her.
Florence Henderson?! When was she on Broadway?

Florence has been on Broadway, but not for a very long time
Of course the soprano voice has to do with the upper register, note wise.
Florence Henderson was on Broadway in the 1950's in WISH YOU WERE HERE and FANNY in the title role. I saw her numerous times in Noel Coward's THE GIRL WHO CAME TO SUPPER in 1963. She also took over Mary Martin's leading role in THE SOUND OF MUSIC on Broadway and toured with other Rodgers & Hammerstein shows. She had a beautiful soprano voice and was a beautiful leading lady, nothing like the mother on "The Brady Bunch".

She is not B-way -- YET -- but I see a lot of us talk about her: Marla Mindelle. I went to school with her -- not Mindelle then. Anyway, she can belt her face off and yet sing operatic descant, beautiful and light, was featured in, like, a Regional Chorus thing. I do believe she was trained classically.
Does Audra really belt? I know she has some strong low notes, but it always seems like she uses more of a classical placement not really a belt sound/placement.
Judy kuhn belts in chess. She had to-nobody mixes that low.
Christine Ebersole has a tremendous range still.
Also, I think some newer actresses who belt and sing soprano are Kristin Chenoweth (I know she's not really new)
Does Lauren Molina fit? (I think so)
Laura Benanti (?)
