Ferryman vs Oklahoma

Hey y'all. My brother is visiting from LA and will only have a chance to see one show. To complicate matters, it will be Sunday when some actors may be out for the Tonys. Our first choice was Hadestown, but that was prohibitively expensive. So we are deciding between Ferryman and Oklahoma. I know these two shows are worlds apart. Both of us love great plays AND great musicals - and will only get to see one of them.
Any guidance? Thank you in advance.

These were my two favorite shows of the season, along with Hadestown.... If I had to choose, I would go with The Ferryman by a hair. Either way, you and your brother will be getting an exceptional and memorable production.

My vote would also be for The Ferryman, though I agree you can't go wrong with either choice.

Thanks! I was leaning toward Oklahoma because it still
Has the original cast - but I think you guys have me leaning toward The Ferryman. Did either of you see it with the current cast?

I've seen it twice with the current cast (and the second time, we made the trip from Boston specifically to see the show again). They are phenomenal.

That is a tough choice! Personally If I were offered the option to revisit one of these shows, I'd choose Oklahoma. Loved Ferryman (though I saw original cast), but this is a pretty thrilling revival of Oklahoma.

Posted: 6/6/19 at 12:33pmI’d definitely go for Ferryman. Personal preference of plays over musicals aside, I found The Ferryman to be one of the most thrilling nights of theatre I’ve experienced in my (admittedly pretty short) life. I loved Oklahoma too, but at the very least that’s running through January with the possibility to be extended further, so you could potentially see that on another trip.

Loved both, but have a few quibbles with Oklahoma! That said, I would still give it the edge over "Ferryman" because it's the more revelatory of the two.

Posted: 6/6/19 at 1:54pmI admit I haven't seen either, neither is a bad opinion, but I would pick Oklahoma on the fact both are touring, but I'm not sure if Oklahoma would tour the same as Ferryman. From what I hear, it works too well in the round to just transfer to a normal theater. Again though, both are wonderful choices and probably see both when if you can

I really enjoyed both, but I would say Oklahoma! since original cast is still in

Saw it last Wednesday. The current cast is fantastic. I liked Oklahoma too but the Ferryman was a theatrical experience I'm still thinking about.

You guys are the best!! After reading your responses, I bought tix to The Ferryman - Row G -side of the center Orchestra Section. I'm very excited - also grateful to have a resource like this one.

I faced a very similar dilemma on my recent trip, as our last open slot was either going to be Oklahoma! or The Ferryman. So I can relate. We opted for the former, but you might be better off seeing a play on the day of the Tonys. (The Ferryman ended up being the play that got away; I am hoping it tours for certain.)
In any event, it sounds like you got excellent seats. Have a great time!

Definitely The Ferryman. No question. I didn't like the new Oklahoma! at all.
