Anyone heard anything about the cast for First Date at the Longacre this summer?
There have been no official casting announcements, and personally I haven't heard any rumors floating around either.
I can't imagine they've sold very many tickets on the strength of a generic title and a score few have heard. The first preview is less than 2 months away. One would think a cast would have been decided upon by now.
Any chance that Hilty is in negotiations for this? With Smash having just been canceled and Megan having done early readings for the show (and I'm sure the producers are looking for a semi-name... or at least one they can advertise as "As Seen on TV"), I feel like it kinda makes sense.
Isn't this a semi-vanity piece where the writer plays the main role?
I really think Megan Hilty is in this..maybe they were waiting for Smash to be cancelled officially before they announced.
I hope she rises above the material for the week or two the show is open if she is in fact in it. What I've seen so far isn't promising.
Yikes, I think Hilty would be a little more savvy with her career than to make First Date her first post-Smash job. I hope Smash opens a few doors for her, so why would she make her return to Broadway in a sure-fire bomb like this?

Megan is doing the staged reading of Can-Can in July. That sounds like a much better show for her career than First Date at this point.
Yeah. She's not in this. The show premiered at the 5th Ave. in Seattle, right? It'll probably be that cast sprinkled with some Broadway people. No big names, I'd think. I'm sure they're trying to run this on the cheap.

Yes. Here is a -very cringeworthy- video clip I found. This thing is going to TANK.

I think most of the cast (i'm almost positive about the two leads) from Seattle are transferring.
I said this perviously but i saw this in Seattle and found it extremely lack luster. Now, i have a ton of friends who loved it so i may be the odd one out but i really didn't find it funny or tuneful, in the least. This was in the same season as "Saving Aimee" (which turned into Scandalous on broadway) and i liked "Saving Aimee" ten times more than "First Date."
I saw both "Saving Aimee" and "First Date" at the 5th Avenue/ACT, and between the two, I personally enjoyed "First Date" more. I think it would have been moderately successful off-Broadway, but I do think this will tank rather quickly on Broadway at Broadway prices.
Though, if Eric Ankrim (one of the two leads) does make his Broadway debut, good for him. He's a pretty talented guy.

According to his Facebook page, I know that Blake Hammond was cast in the show.

I believe Vicki Noon, who did the premiere in Seattle and is currently understudying Elphaba on Broadway, is doing it.
Well then get your tickets now before they're gone!
Are you talking about the tickets being gone, or the show itself?
^ I still don't see patrons paying full price for this regardless of the cast- I mean Baldwin and Lupone couldn't sell their shows, quality of each aside. I'm still relatively surprised Bountiful has extended considering discounts are regularly available for that show. Aside from that, First Date's demographic is young, broke, theatregoers- that won't keep it open, I agree with other posters, should've tried an off-broadway venue.
Don't know the show First Date so won't comment on that, but I saw Vicki Noon as Elphaba in SF a few years back - she was the understudy or standby (not sure) and went on for Teal Wicks, who was out that day. Vicki was phenomenal. Her singing was flawless and powerful and thrilling and her acting was wonderful. I have been hoping to have a chance to see her again in something ever since, so if this is it, i will try to make it back to NYC while the show is open, regardless of whether the reviews are positive, negative, or mixed.
