Though I would certainly love to see a New York return for this production, which I loved, it's important not to forget that they would once again have to find a house big enough to handle the large orchestra, if they chose to keep that. This was part of the discussion when the show was still at the Kennedy Center and talk of transferring to Broadway was happening. Could the Hirschfeld pit even hold 27 musicians? Perhaps it could, but it seems like one of the reasons it took the Marquis to begin with was that it was big enough for the production.
And as far as Audra goes, I think she could play Sally or Phyllis, and not just because of her voice type.

Considering the fact that the Hershfeld was designed with enough dressing rooms to hold 200 actors I am sure it's pit should be large enough to hold 27 musicians. Also realize that it's a old house that was built for musicals in 1924 when orchestras at least made up of 20 members and if the pit isn't large enough they can always throw the percussionists into a dressing room.
