That's all strictly debatable based on the shows people are working on and/or biased people are towards cast members.
Remember how excellent VOTE was last year, because Rachelle Rak was doing choreography, and Deidre Goodwin and Bailey Hanks were in it? Then people actually saw it.
What am I looking forward to? "Getting Even with Shakespeare," where all of the characters Bill has killed plot revenge. And "When We Last Flew," a riff on ANGELS IN AMERICA.
There are so many, it's hard to hear buzz. But a few have grabbed my attention:
Bunked (Musical) Dear Harvey (about Harvey Milk) A Matter of Choice (a dear friend of mine is directing) The Swearing Jar
I might just check out what around during my late august visit and decide by date.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

my interest is in Getting Even With Shakespeare and A Matter Of Choice.
Having seen a previous production of Shakespeare I know it is really funny and the actors (well the ones that are the same, so I supect they all will be) are all really excellent in their roles. I want to see how it (if it has) changed since I saw it.
Following are the shows I've already grabbed tickets for.
These have all been performed elsewhere and had favorable reviews:
Hearts Full Of Blood Dream of the Marionettes Shine: A Burlesque Musical Have a Nice Life Happy Birthday, Mom Hamlet Shut Up Getting Even With Shakespeare
These were choices based on either the talent involved or videos posted which I found promising:
Bunked! Terms of Dismemberment Platinum
Has anyone here seen Pope! The Musical? It ran off and on for 9 months at an improv comedy theater called The Magnet here in NYC, but I can't find a single review online.
From their website - "Playing By Air's original acts feature juggling, circus skills, physical comedy, dance, music, and other variety arts"
Trust me, it's absolutely phenomenal, and they perform all over the US. They have tons of great, entertaining videos on their website, too. http://playingbyair.com/
You mean like last year when message board favorites Spencer Liff and Nick Adams were in that atrocious piece of garbage that the set didn't even want to be there (as in: it kept falling down)?
Well, I am definitely going to see "How My Mother Died of Cancer, and Other Bedtime Stories." I've seen it in rehearsals and it is HILARIOUS. The cast is super talented AND in answer to RippedMan's concerns: yes, there are very cute boys in it.
Thanks for the link skyhook, had already visited it from the FringeNYC show listing.
Still hoping someone will eventually chime in with first hand experience from their run at the Magnet.
I love improv long-form (just finished the Del Close Marathon at Upright Citizens Brigade) but have found that scripted works from that crowd can be really hit or miss.
That said, if anyone has the opportunity to see The Improvised Shakespeare Company or Baby Wants Candy jump at the chance. Both have been in prior Fringes and their improvised-on-the-spot shows rival most of the rehearsed work at this or any other Fringe Festival.
Yep, that's the one, and Veritas does indeed look very promising. It's on my "shows to keep an ear out for" once first performance reviews start getting posted.
I'm new to these forums and not sure of the real protocol here. I, too, am looking forward to seeing "How My Mother Died of Cancer, and Other Bedtime Stories". I have seen Pope in its earlier incarnation at the Magnet. It was a very cute show with lots of potential. It was fast paced, very funny with an extremely clever script. The music was very good, real hummable tunes with some very funny lyrics. There were several "show stoppers" in the original production. The only weak part of the show at the Magnet, for me, was some of the casting. In my opinion, some of the cast was forgettable. My understanding is that it has been recast now, as I saw the ads in Backstage, and is currently in rehearsals for the Fringe with a new cast. I actually saw it listed on the Ripley-Grier boards while attending an audition not long ago. I would not be surprised if this show ended up being the "sleeper hit" of the Fringe. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.
I do have a friend working on Pigeons, Knishes and Rockettes (not gonna like, I think the majority of Fringe audiences are friends and relatives of people involved!) and from what I've heard, it's really happy and Serendipity-ish...
^Hope you pre-purchased your tix for Veritas. It's sold out for it's entire run.
