Hi all
My mom was looking to buy tickets to Frozen for the fall as a gift. I was surprised to see tickets are only on sale until August 2019. Has there been any whispers of closing?

Other than the first and second week of previews, where they only did 4 and 5 performances respectively, the show has yet to have a week that's grossed less than 1.1 million. Any "whispers" that anyone might claim about the show closing before the end of this year would be purely wishful thinking from people who just don't like it. It's not all that unusual for the fall and winter blocks to not be on sale at this point. On Ticketmaster even The Lion King is currently showing tickets as available through August 11th, and there is absolutely no way that show is closing this summer.

Frozen 2 is coming out in November so that should give this entire franchise yet another marketing boost. I don't see this leaving Broadway anytime soon.

The three Disney shows tend to extend at the same time, if you notice Aladdin and The Lion King haven't extended either; the West End productions also do the same thing. I expect the Broadway productions will all extend in the next couple of weeks.

I'm sorry--why do you want it to close?

Let’s be blunt, Frozen has a pretty large hatedom in general and the safe and reverential approach of the stage version means it is a bit of a lightning rod for complaints about Disney’s grip on Broadway. I feel like this version should have taken more risks (being bold and daring is what made the original such a hit!) but the majority of Frozen fans like being able to see Anna and Elsa belt out new songs in a familiar story - they don’t mind seeing Disney play it safe...
Although Frozen is the lowest earning of Disney’s three megamusicals ATM, it is still in the Top 10, and will be there for a while. Attendance has been reasonably consistent, and it hasn’t really crashed and burned in the off season in the way that Tarzan and The Little Mermaid did. It will probably extend to the end of the year, and pass The Little Mermaid, but making it to the golden 1000 show threshold could be a challenge...
