Ben Platt is in town and it’s Saturday. Do the math.

Ephie posted on her Instagram that she's on for the 2PM show today!"
We knew that was coming ... Anyone going to the matinee today - wish I could go this afternoon but oot!
Beanie's such a prima donna and she just can't handle doing this show physically and vocally 8x a week!
Beanie posted that she got hurt during the show this week and "hopes" to be back for the evening show tonight.

Sure, Beanie. Let Ben know we all say “hi.”
Where did she post? I only see her new dog photo on Instagram. Maybe it’s in a convo.

In 2022, no one really posts photos on Instagram anymore, everyone pretty much just uses Instagram Story. The ratio is like 1 photo posted every other week to 5 daily Instagram Story posts.
Is she going for a record of most absences?

I'm guessing Karen Olivo holds the record from West Side Story?

Morer than Donna's in Wonderful Town?

Regarding Donna Murphy and her well documented missed performances in WONDERFUL TOWN - she had hurt her voice (hemorraged a vocal chord) early in previews and never had proper time to heal. That's why she was out occasionally from the show during the run - to give her voice a rest. She then injured it again and was told that if she didn't take a medical leave, she was risking hurting her voice forever. The producers asked her to be quiet about it, and they informed the press it was the flu and that she would be back shortly (knowing she was on medical leave) and thus succeeded in creating this persona of her as someone who never shows up, which is unfair and untrue and obviously people still harp about it decades later.
Intermission. She sounds fantastic. It seems a bit of a different take on the role, more “natural”. When this Fanny isn’t “on stage” she’s not as “on” as the others portray her and I think that makes her Fanny more realistic. Sadly we have the book in act two to suffer through now lol
I swiped thru various FG Instagram stories earlier and missed it. And she posted a photo of her dog circa half hour while “hoping” to be back for the evening. Maybe it is generous accommodation of the Aardema opportunity? At this point, all speculation. Mine certainly included. A friend saw her earlier this week and said she was cheered to the rafters. The case when I saw her in June. Sizable crowd waited afterwards. This isn’t a star invalided by the experience; folks adore her, rave on Instagram.
This production will be board fodder for years.

She's less a prima donna than simply untrained, which includes having the stamina to do the role. Was wondering if she would make it through Julie's quarantine without taking a day off. Was suggesting a few months ago when she might use a "minor" injury (broken toe?) to bow out entirely. Glad for Ephie, though.

What's interesting is the stage manager did an IG story about a run through done earlier this week for Ephie.
Overheard an actor in the show talking to friends afterwards about how Beanie's "been really sick a lot lately". For whatever that's worth, plus I was totally eavesdropping on the conversation, walking home.
As for Ephie, she was great. For her first show she had the same reaction really that Julie did for her first show and was just in tears by the last note, and couldn't even get it all the way out. And her resume will now always say she was Fanny Brice on Broadway. Good for her. But yes, it was a different performance than Julie - just more grounded in reality, is the best way I can put it. That's no shade or anything on Julie who I truly believe should be the replacement because she's out of this world brilliant, it's just different. If she goes on again I'd really suggest going to check her out if you can.
Side note - This is about Seat Geek, the worst ticketing service that's ever existed. I went on to buy for today and noticed that the app was charging about $30 more for tickets than the desktop site was. I only noticed it because the app was being glitchy so I went to my computer. I don't know what kind of BS that is but just be careful when using that BS service from now on.

Thanks for the info about Seat Geek. I know people complain about Telecharge but I would rather use them then Seat Geek.

Whatever the reason.. an absence is an absence. I seem to recall Andy Gibb missed a lot during Joseph as well.

All of my friends were there today from the suburbs. They had tickets for months. They were all blown away by Ephie! They’ve been raving non-stop about her performance this afternoon. So so happy to hear. They can’t stop talking about the show. Love love love.

Yes. Ephie was absolutely spectacular. Nailed the comedy and her voice was just lovely. If she goes on again, you’re in great hands.

My partner works on the show. Yes, Beanie was struck by a trunk off of a turntable as it came around backstage.

Industrial accident - Workers' Comp claim. Some people would take advantage of it to quit their job and retire.
