I am so sorry . I don’t know how to paste from facebook. Look up Harvey’s fb post . He went to see FG. During intermission the audience’s phones all went off with storm alert warnings . The orchestra pit got flooded and the remaining of the performance got cancelled .
I saw the tour last night in DC. Upon entering the Opera House I was happy to see that no understudies were listed. Got to my seat and there was a printout of the cast appearing that night. Unfortunately, Katerina McCrimmon was out. I was not happy about that as I specifically went to see her. I would have been pleased if Hannah Shankman was on in her place (did not happen). Got second understudy Leah Platt. What dismays me is there was no notification on the cast board in the lobby, no special insert that said, At this performance the role of Fanny Brice..., and no announcement was made prior to the performance. Needless to say, it completely tarnished the way I viewed last night's performance.
I'm not sure if it's the book, but the show is very clunky. It looks like they were down members of the male ensemble, as there were only 3 that appeared in His Love Makes Me Beautiful.
Leah was fine, not dynamic, which is what I would expect from an actress playing Fanny Brice. She had a good singing voice. The audience seemed to like her a lot more than I did.
I'd like to see Katerina, but I'm not taking my chances with the shadiness of the production not making it clear from the get-go that the lead actress is out.

They really have no excuse for any of this. In this day of age where they have your email and your cell number and notices go out so quickly. They should’ve let you know ahead of time. Plus, I think this absence was previously scheduled. Since all the swings and understudies have been posting when they’re going on under their Instagram pages. I am so sorry you had to go through this.

It is live theater. And things do happen. Sometimes people are given moments before curtain that they're going to be going on in a role. They don't know ahead of time. We've all heard those stories about leads going on and actors being replaced midway through, right? It's live. Things happen. Give them some grace

They knew ahead of time. She posted a few weeks ago on her Instagram that she was going on. This was totally misleading .. especially since Katerina’s name is on all the advertising. Shame on them.
Has anyone seen Hannah Shankman? I bought a Thursday ticket for Atlanta and it looks like I will be seeing her. Kind of disappointed because people are raving about McKrimmon. I went to her Instagram and she definitely has a voice; I see she was an Elphaba.
Dottie; You need to write a email to the theater or something. What they did is not right. I just looked all over Leahs social media and they did know in advance that she was doing that performance. The same thing happened to some friends when they went on a Thursday in LA. Now to most that follow any of the shows social media you might know that Katerina has not been doing Thursdays. But the ticket buying audience does not know. My friends in LA complained and stayed for the show. But both of them were given the opportunity to return on another night. One of them was able to take advantage.
MysteriousLady: I have seen Hannah. She is very good. This show requires more than very good. Katerina is special.

There are plenty of pictures on social media (look at Leah's Instagram story) of playbill inserts. You must not have gotten one.

They did get one. Dottie is just being a major Karen
Planning to see this in Seattle next month. Seen some videos of Katerina and I cannot believe the pipes on that girl! I'm also so excited for the Criterion edition of the film! Never saw that coming.
How is the tour? I missed it when it stopped by Philly. But my Broadway friends saw it and said it was the most boring show they’ve ever seen and regretted staying for the second act. They said there was no chemistry and no one was memorable. I was surprised since I saw it twice with Lea and it was thrilling. The songs and the vocal made the time go by so quickly. I’ve only heard amazing things about Katerina so I’m very confused.
The show itself is meh. The design is pretty ugly. But Stephen Mark Lucas is gorgeous and equally charming. Rodney Thompson (who was in for Eddie Ryan) tapped his booty off and was immensely likable and heartbreaking. Melissa Manchester's performance was a standout, with her unique charm and undeniable talent shining through. She can definitely still SANG.
But really Katerina McCrimmon's performance is what holds this together. She's sensational, one-of-a-kind; feels of the era while bringing something brand new to it.
I can't imagine liking the show at all without a star—either breakout or established—giving it that much vim and vigor.

If you actually read the entire thread, you’d see someone said on the first page that it was mentioned at the press conference for the San Francisco stop.

To be honest my reaction wasn't the best either- I'M sorry! Oh that would explain why I didn't see it- that was most likely a takeover and I don't follow the theaters or anything"
hearthemsing22, you had this conversation with Azúcar in June…

Sorry I don't go back into the depths of these threads to find answers. I didn't realize it was a crime to ask again.
Katerina made the show. Her performance made a huge difference. Having seen clips of the Broadway production, there's something about the tour that the comes off less polished (for lack of a better word).
