Did anyone just watch SNL? They just had a sketch about a drama teacher (Christopher Walken) directing a high school production of Grease, and questioning the supposedly "adult" lyrics int eh song Grease Lightning.
Mildly amusing.

Very funny, especially if you work in a school, there is a lot of truth to it!
I wrote about this on the Off Topic board!

Fox, fox, fox!!!
ehh it wasn't that funny. i feel like i'm the only one who finds christopher walkens humor unfunny.
Did anyone just watch SNL?
NO, because I'm ON THE WEST COAST, you East Coast-centrist!!!!!
I thought it was hilarious, one of the best sketches of the night.
A great nod to school-appropriate theatre (and possibly the recent revival which I'm sure was watered down with a super soaker)
I love Walken's sputtering, awkward humor, I don't think I've laughed so hard while watching SNL since the original Debbie Downer.
This is one of my all time favorite programs. I agree, it was really really funny. I'm glad because the show has been pretty mediocre lately. I mean, the past few seasons. Nothing like the original cast or the 1996-2000 casts.
i liked the Hillary part at the beginning. I don't know. I love the older seasons, especially the ones with Gilda Radner
Yeah, I have her Best of DVD. Actually, I will just admit that I am an SNL junkie. I have 10 Best of DVD's, and want more. Plus, I know way more about the show than I should thanks to wonderful books coming out, plus the tv specials from a few years ago. LOL!
i have her best of as well. it's ok.
I have 25 best ofs.
I had JUST heard Greased Lightning on XM Broadway the other day (what I assumed was the new cast recording) and noticed it said "She's a real dragon-wagon!"
Oy.
I got to Weekend Update & it was fairly good. i considered myself lucky & not wanting to push my luck I turned it off & went to bed
I always liked Walken. He was born, like me, in Astoria & he has the distinction of being in Heavens Gate & playing the most uninteresting of all the James Bond villans.
His career has been resusitated & good to see him in fine form.

Not a dragon wagon, a draggin" wagon! Like in drag racing?
I LOVED IT!
Everytime I've watched the show or movie, I'm always asking myself "How is this family entertainment? Parents are taking little kids to this thing?" I'm glad they pointed it out finally!
Unfortunately, that was the only skit that had some spark last night. Though Walken has hosted numerous times, he seems to have lost that Walken 'spark' that he had in his past appearances. His frozen cue-card reading last night was annoying -- I literally had to look away during his scenes and look back when he was not speaking. He never once looked at any of the actors in the scene -- his eyes were frozen-locked on those cue cards. Annette Bening was the exact same way -- never once looking at the other actors in a scene to keep her eyes frozen-locked on her cue cards.
Disappointing show that I virtually fast-forwarded in mid skit the entire broadcast.
Now... the SNL Digital Short: LASER CATS IN 3D? Pure genius!

Yes, Laser Cats is awesome. I don't know why, but it is.
And honestly, it's not just Grease with the adult reference either. There are tons of musicals out there that I really don't get why parents are taking their kids to see. I saw some girls who looked like they were only 10 at Chicago, and all I was thinking was "what were their parents thinking?" I also thought the same thing with Spamalot. If you want to take kids to see theater, take them to the Disney shows or maybe something by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Maybe even Hairspray, although that one might be pushing it a bit. I just think there are too many shows that kids should not be exposed to at a young age. And Grease definitely has those elements in it.
aww I missed SNL last night. Is the video posted online?
When I was in 7th grade the school musical was Grease and we didn't edit any of the lyrics. My mom realized just how innapropriate Grease was once she saw all the little 11 year olds, including myself singing these songs. She wrote any angry letter to the school the next day.
Oh, I'd kill just to see (and hear) little 11 year old girls sing:
"Freddy, My Love"
"Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee" (Reprise)
... more importantly -- "There Are Worst Things I Could Do".
What on EARTH was that school thinking?!
That would be hillarious to see. My choir teacher won't let me sing "If You Were Gay" for Solo Ensemble or take us to Avenue Q even though the recomendation is 13 and up. You're lucky.
Come to think of it, there was another GREASE sketch on SNL a few years back. I think it was Tina Fey's last show or something and it had the guys and the gals singing a version of "Summer Nights" in a locker room or something. I ought to find a vid of of it! That was hilarious.
EDIT:
I think this is it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFLWQgSgzbk I can't see if this is the right vid because I am in class and the internet here blocks YouTube videos.

I have a video of it. I'll upload it. It was on May 14th, 2004 with Mary Kate and Ashley as the hosts. Jimmy's final show.
