Posted: 4/21/19 at 6:00pmThese should be very interesting. I loved this bizarre little play, but I know a lot of people that REALLY hated it. I'm interested to see how the critics feel about it.

I had a lot of fun at this show. I can't tell you what it was about, but it got me out of my head. I enjoyed it. I will be curious to see what reviewers say.

When I recommended it to a friend, they said someone else also said they loved it, but another told them is was terrible. As evidenced by the Previews thread, this is going to be a love it or hate it show.

New York Post hates it (and it's Joe Dziemaniowicz, not Johnny Oleksinski)
"It lets three of the funniest actors in the business twist in the wind"

The Wrap: “The actor scores in Taylor Mac's demented new comedy, which manages to improve mightily on Shakespeare's worst play”

THR calls it "a flimsy farce with pretensions" and "the most bat****-crazy thing to be seen on Broadway in many a moon"

Deadline is a rave:
"...while we’re on the subject of inadequacy, put me down for singling out Lane, who is only the most obvious of the pleasures in Taylor Mac’s Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus, the outrageous, hysterically funny and connivingly moving new play opening on Broadway tonight at the Booth Theatre."

NY Daily News: “But Gary" is unlike anything you’ve ever seen and, through its very presence on Broadway, an act of clear desperation and an important meditation on the role of the comic in a geopolitical hellhole.”

Broadway News is disapointed: “This play has the marks of an unfinished “mind dump,” and even when the mind in question is of the caliber of Taylor Mac’s, it takes more to architect a coherent work of theater. I would sign on for any and every breaking of the rules of form and structure if only I felt included in the new conventions on offer.”

Yes, this is as expected I’m glad you’re getting to see it...and a wee bit jealous. Anxious to see if Brantley or Green reviews for the New York Times and what he has to say
